Hmmm not sure what category I fall into. I usually get a hook in my head and work off it. I never plan to write a song, it just happens, usually during my practice sessions regardless of my mood.
With that said, I probably fall into the latter category, the music always takes on a life of it's own that I normally don't have any control over. Ok, now I'm really confused lol.
I agree with rick... I have sat down many times to write something for my current mood by the time I get the bones down it's developed itself in a whole different light (or dark for that matter)
Nusic has to be the ability to changs moods by either means...listening or creating :D
