MIXING BALLADS.. - @ab1

well my new love song YOU AND ME.. just got a remix.. i have a cold so my ears missed some hot spots in the first mix.. you know what? anybody else feel this? ballads with a lot of tracks are the hardest to mix it seems.. they move slow and all those tracks are tricky to adjust perfectly.. so easy for one word or note to be too loud.. so much space.. everything stands out.. gotta up this.. lower that.. ad naseum.. etc.. lol.. wonder what you all think of it?by the way.. thanks so much for all the reviews so far my friends.. much appreciated.. well your listens and reviews do matter.. I appreciate your time listening to a jazz guy demonstrate how to play to changes.. wanted to solo once on acoustic.. a 1954 harmony f-holed, archtop steel string.. margot saved it from neglect when she found it at an antiques fair in newark, nottinghamshire, england..

sometimes everything is right in the world.. lol.. great to be back with so many fine indie musicians on the MIX.. it doesn't have to be the old mixpo.. this one is cool how it is.. and getting better all the time.. love the new look and and colors.. all blake's new graphic touches.. classy stuff
and man moving to the alps was the best thing i could do.. got gigs again.. it sure feels good to be back on stage.. it might not be for 10,000 people like with David La Flamme back in the day but it'll do.. it'll do.. that's me in the pic with my new partner martin.. he's a fine guitar player and gets lots of calls to play.. we are sounding good as a duo but also have a few quartet gigs coming up soon..

lots of new tunes here so i'd like to point out our new one more time the wherewolf, TLT50, and me.. the first was called NIGHT GAMES.. this one was inspired on my part by another monster beat and awesome music with intensity by larry the wolfman tlt50 and by one of my favorite films from spike lee DO THE RIGHT THING..

well even though I'm a life-long lakers fan i was hopin to see KG get his ring and now i've become a celtics fan.. it's closer to switzerland geographically anyway so it's now "home team".. lol.. and the celticsdid it last night in grand fashion becoming NBA CHAMPIONS.. go CELTICS!!! congrats celtics esp. kevin.. paul.. and ray... oh.. and by the way..

man it sure feels great to be a guitarist again.. I really appreciate what this site has done for me.. brought me back to my roots.. GUITAR PLAYING !!!!!!!! so THANKS for all the thoughtful reviews for this new little BT jam.. FUNKIN WITH BOB.. awesome guitarist bob forbes (redeyeC) invited a great musician and guitarist we all know and love.. nigel potter.. and also me to collab for his M3 ensemble page on SC.. rapster got the funk and nigel and bob got the rock parts.. but the the two different beats and feels just didn't seem to match.. so we redid the thing.. changed the collab Colossus to the great rock beat.. I then took my funk parts and just glued them together to make a BT style jam for all you great guitar buddies out there cause that was a tradition on this site.. still alive and well in the forums I believe.. BT means backing track.. and I got to say once again that bob's beat and bass were just too cool not to go back to school and play all the way through like a mad fool..

what really inspired me too was to find frank's arabic looking pic cause it fit perfectly the type of sort of eastern sounding lines i had in mind.. and even better cause everybody tells me i remind them of frank.. so this bit of guitar jamming is in memory of frank zappa who also liked it exotic.. cheers..

thanks so much friends for the reviews of my return to rock.. man I had to find out what my new vamp with a pre amp could do (thanks rick, dazed and focus player for the good advice and tips)..

I love the sounds you all been gettin and man that's where i come from too.. bands man.. gettin down live.. finally can input direct.. no more worrying about the neighbors hearing my miked amp.. even if it was only clean and quiet lol.. now i can wail in my phones all alone.. hope to do more in this genre.. hard rock/metal.. I dig it hard and tough.. thanks nigel for all your tough songs of late.. that's what i like mate.. and all you amazing fellow pickers out there.. thanks for kicking my butt..

I've been wanting to ask you all what kind of phones you use and/or recommend? and here's 2 problems.. nobody is listening about the posting thing.. put up my NEW BLUE last night and it was gone from sight in a few minutes cause of the over-posters.. why don't guys **** off?.. lol.. just kiddin.. so we have to spam all our friends to let em know we got a new one? that sucks imho..

so anyway problem number 2.. after i post a new one i always listen in my 2 pairs of headphones.. obviously they both sound different but my new song is strange.. in the sennheisers (my main mixing phones) the lead guitar sounds balanced just fine.. but in the old sony CD380's the leads are FRIGGIN LOUD !!!! never had this problem on any other of my tunes.. just wondering if any of you hear it the 2nd way.. leads WAY too loud?.. no reviewer's have said that yet.. just wondering.. and I really would like to know about your taste in phones.. which have the best mid, highs and bass? lol.. I know this should have been a forum question but alot more read the blogs.. lol.. thanks and please check out new blue if you're so inclined.. cheers fam.. )
