Just some songs that I've written over the years and to date. Plus some collaboration songs as well.
I've had fun with this music stuff most of my life and still do. I gigged in a band for 35 years but now I'm just a home studio hack. Made some bucks from gigging but I guess the real payout is the numerous stories and memories from the road.
For a while I ran a small project studio at my place for soloists, duos, and the occasional full band. I gained a lot of recording experience doing that. It was definitely an experience. These days it's just me having fun in the studio. I try this and that with songwriting and recording. Once in a while it works. If I come up with something decent, which I think sounds ok, I'll post it up.
You can find my music on most of the popular sites ie. Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc. Thanks for visiting and if you have the time, hit the play button to hear a song or two.

I was just checking my streams payout on CD Baby and saw that more than a hundred of my song streams from Spotify and YouTube Music were deducted as being ineligible. So CD Baby deducted those amounts from my total payout. I've been with CD Baby for 25 years and never had this problem before this rip off. After doing some digging it appears that Spotify and YouTube Music have flagged these songs as having artificial streams generated by Bots. I have never used a service to generate or bolster my streams. CD Baby gets charged from those distribution companies and passes the fee on to their customers. I'm not the only one this has happened to. So as of now I've removed Spotify and YouTube Music as distributors for my music. The other distributors (Tidal, Amazon, Apple etc.) will continue to stream my songs. Just some FYI and venting on my end. They Sux!

I just received the new album from Kingstorm and it's chocked full of classic rock goodness from the beginning to the end. There's not a single dull moment in this collection of 10 original rockin' tunes. If you're not familiar with Kingstorm, they are a collaboration band that consists of three members: Joseph (Tito) Rodriguez - Music (hot guitars) and production, Ron Bowes - Lead/backing vocals and lyrics, and Jose A. Ruiz Marquez - Drums and good vibes. Not only does the album sound excellent but it looks great as well. Overall, it's as professional as it gets and would easily stand along side any of the classic rock bands, current or past. I've listened to several MP3 versions of these songs but there's no comparison to hearing them in one go and in full wav. fidelity. If you want to get your rockin' motor running, I highly recommend this album from Kingstorm!
It's a real bummer to hear of Marty Balin's passing at 76 years old..........The Jefferson Airplane, Marty and the S.F. music scene were very influential on my early musical development. I still listen to Surrealistic Pillow to this day. I saw them in concert at The Fillmore West in the 70's. Marty and the band definitely lived by the rock mantra of "Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n Roll". RIP in the great psychedelic sky Marty..........
The memory of Jefferson Airplane in concert was the catalyst for my song San Francisco Daze. Here's one for you...RIP Marty.
https://www.mixposure.com/farrell-jackson/audio/19127/san-francisco-daze

I've been thinking about the song reviews I do at Mixposure. If you've heard the songs I write and the collaborations I get involved with, you'll most likely agree that my interest in music styles and genres varies greatly. So it follows the same road when I choose songs to review. On average, I review approximately 1.1 songs a day according the Mixposure statistics that are shown on the Community/New Songs pages. That's not an extraordinary amount by no means but do know that I listen to many more songs than that.
If I hear something in a song I like then I'll leave a comment......if I don't, I won't. The comment/s might be just a few words or a more detailed analysis of what I like about the song. I believe artists appreciate even a comment like "good song!". It let's them know someone is listening to their creativity and hard work it took to take a song from nothing and to the point of posting it up.
I suppose the real reason I'm writing this blog is to let you know if you get a comment from me, however slight, it's an honest comment. I'm not shining you on or trying to boost my review numbers. There's nothing to gain by doing that. I'm leaving the words because something in your song caught my ear, struck a note, and made me feel. I think/hope you would like to know your effort paid off and hasn't fallen by the wayside....even if it's just a micro encouragement from someone you don't even know.
My ramble for this morning...............I need to back off the caffeine...........
The lyric was excellent so I went to work on the music. The song started to grow from there. As it progressed I realized it needed some help from musical friends to reach the full potential I was hearing my head. David C. Deal did some fantastic work on the cello, violins, organ and piano. Buddrumming recording the perfect drum track and created a nice poster ad for it. The song is now complete and time to post up. A great collaboration and a huge thank you to all involved!
It's finally all fleshed out with the help of DrC.

Since the lyric is a jab at the current political antics in the USA, I felt it needed a Circus type intro atmosphere so DrC worked his magic and wah lah....here it is!

DrC did the drum programming and all keyboards/Dixieland horns....recorded at his place.

I did the rhythm guitar, Mind Bender guitar, bass, lead guitar, and all vocals....recorded at my place.

We co-produced and DrC mixed it.

Enjoy!

Farrell Jackson

http://www.mixposure.com/pages/iaudio/song_id=30388

This is just an idea that popped into my head. I decided to keep it simple for now with just a solo acoustic guitar. I'm using a Taylor GS Mini acoustic tuned down two full steps but it's still a standard tuning. So instead of being tuned to E, it's tuned to D. Enjoy!Farrell Jackson

Bud also did the song's cool promo poster. This is my submission to the Site Song Challenge. I think I've got the criteria covered. It's a collab bewteen Bud and I. The drums are acoustic, my hamonica is acoustic, my Taylor GS Mini acoustic is acoustic, the bass, my LP, and Epi Casino are electrified so........I think it's good to go. Oh and my voice is acoustic, lol.I've been wanting to try the Nashville tuning for a long while so I re-strung my Fender Telecoustic. It sounds great in the song. It gives off the vibe of a twelve string in there. The lyric is self explanatory.I want to thank Bud for the great drums and also for the excellent promo poster!Enjoy!Farrell and Bud

This one is called San Francisco Daze and it's brand new. I finished it last evening and it's a different style from me. It's a bit of guitar over indulgence on my part but that's sort of the idea or theme of the song. The late 1960's S.F. concerts were filled with never ending, loud guitar solos, lol. I've had this idea for some time now of writing a song that captured my youthful travels to San Francisco to hear some of the great bands and musicians of the 60's. The likes of Jefferson Airplane, Janice Joplin with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana plus more. Besides needing to see if my fingers and mind still had those jammin' capabilities, this is my interpretation of those days and that S.F. rock sound of the 60's. It was all recorded and mixed on my Fostex VF160. The guitars are an OLP MM1, a Squire Jagmaster, and Jazz bass. The amps are a Crate V-5 and a Mustang I. The drums are from a Zoom MRT3 machine.

I hope you enjoy my flashback.....Cheers!

Farrell

http://www.mixposure.com/index.php?t=mixposure_song_player&song_id=25508&band_id=991

I was looking and listening to some old song files and stumbled upon it. I thought it sounded pretty decent so I decided to load up all the tracks, remix it, and make use of today's technology to enhance the sound further. Since I had it in the studio I decided to add some more backing vox to it also. It brings back some good memories for me. I hope you enjoy it also!

Farrell Jackson

I also have the HF License for this. HF#1119753738
