This is a demonstration of the wonderful power of our community in advancing the message we are trying to send to the world at large through peaceful, creative activism.

Since early July 2010, the Mantra of Peace music compilation community engaged in helping bring Nigel Potter's song video, No More War (Upon The Green Earth) to the top 10 of the Living With War Today video charts.

Along the way, we have shared this initiative in asking for everyone's assistance to try and continue to elevate the public conscience and awareness that we want peace for all.

Now, you can see how our efforts have gained success in achieving our hopes, plans and goals in bringing this important song to a wider audience.

Please note that Maria Daines song video for, Peace Wins The Election has also achieved great status on the Living With War Today video page also. Dear friends, musicians, poets, artists and community members,

I hope you are all well.

This is an exciting update that demonstrates the power of our community in peaceful, artistic action and activism.

As you may be aware, Neil Young's website Living With War Today is hosting
2 videos from the Mantra of Peace music compilation. Maria Daines and
Paul Killington's song video, Peace Wins The Election, and, Nigel
Potter's song video, No More War (Upon The Green Earth)

When I first wrote to the community notifying of this wonderful opportunity to
have this important music brought to a wider audience just by clicking
on the links provided below to view these videos via the L.W.W. Today
website, I never imagined the support would be so amazing.

To update you all, Nigel Potter's song video has gone from chart position
277 all the way up to chart position 14. And, Maria Daines and Paul
Killington's song video has skyrocketed from chart position 630 to an
outstanding chart position 11.

I really can't thank you all enough for your ultimate support and community spirit. I do however I offer my gratitude to you all for bringing the goals, plans and hopes
to a level of spirited heartwarming support and community spirit.

It was my goal to see these videos chart in the top 100 through 500
positions, with a plan to utilize the power of community action with

I constructed this video for Nigel because it's an important song with a very popular sentiment that has been an anthem for a very long time. I want to share an initiative of Peace with everyone that is truly amazing!

This initiative I am writing to you about is called, Peace Book.

Simply, our friend, Tami Colpitts / Peace Book, www.myspace.com/worldpeacebook is asking for submissions from people all over the world to include in this wonderful project that is a demonstration of selfless giving and Peace !!!!

When I discovered this project, I wrote to Tami asking more details about this project, and asked if the poem below, written by, Maria Daines is the type of subject matter that would be suitable for the Peace Book initiative.

Here is Tami's reply outlining the parameters of how to submit material for the Peace Book.Tami also asked for permission to use Maria's poem in the Peace Book. (Of course, Maria Daines has given permission ))

As you read further, you will find that there is a way you can support Maria and Paul’s great causes with your own personal touch and contribution of community spirit. No monetary requirement will be asked of you. We would like to ask for about 4 minutes of your time and written thoughts.

2009 International Peace Song Contest - @mantra-of-peace

International Peace Song Contest

The Peace Music Foundation (PMF), in association with the New York City Symphony and Artists Association for World Peace (AAWP), is presenting in 2009 its First International Peace Song Writing Contest.

OBJECTIVES

• To organize an annual Peace Song Contest that will invite musicians worldwide to write original songs related to the theme of Peace.

• To organize a yearly Peace Song Festival, where the 10 best songs emerging from the Peace Song Contest will be performed live by their respective artists.

• To issue the annual Peace Song Award. An international jury will select the artist with the best song and performance as winner at the Peace Song Festival.

DEFINITION OF PEACE SONG

It is a song with original melody and lyrics, conveying the spirit and theme of peace. The message of peace may draw its inspiration from related themes such as:

• the oneness of the human family

• harmony among people, nations and races

• compassion and love for human beings

• the spirituality/divine origin of humanity

• the dual concepts of peace and freedom, peace and love

• Mother Earth and our love for the environment

• reflections on war, violence and destruction caused by humans

STRUCTURE OF THE PEACE SONG CONTEST

A. Preliminary Contest

A preliminary contest will be held in which musicians / songwriters will have a chance to compete for cash awards, as well as participate in the First International Peace Song Festival, a concert at which the winning artists will be showcased and the Annual Peace Song Award will be presented.

The ten songwriters whose songs are judged to be the winning entries will receive cash awards in the amounts of $2,000 (1st place); $1,500 (2nd place); $1,000 (3rd place); $500 (4th and 5th place) and $200 (for 6th through 10th place). The winning songs will also be included on a Commemorative CD to be produced at a future date.

B. Rules and Guidelines for the Contest

Applicants must not be signed to a publishing entity. Any style of song is eligible: Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rap, Gospel, Blues, R and B, Jazz, Classical, Reggae, New Age, etc.

Songs may be submitted on CD or electronically (mp3.) The level of production sophistication of the entries will not be a factor in assessing the songs, although it is very important to have the vocals clearly audible.

Though the publishing rights for all entries submitted for the contest will remain the exclusive property of the individual authors/composers, PMF reserves the right to post them on its website, record the winning songs on a CD or DVD, and/or use the recordings of the winning songs for events connected to PMF projects.

There is a $10 entry/processing fee for each song submitted. Checks or money orders are payable to: Peace Music Foundation. PMF is a non-profit organization in the state of New York.

The 12 songs in parts 1 through 4 on the player that you are listening to are by artists from all over the world with a message.

These 12 tracks in total were presented in the same order they appear here as on the live edition of Zest Radio Show on February 3 2007 on CKRG 89.9 FM Radio Glendon, York University, Toronto, Canada.

Paul Richmond, host of the show, extends his gratitude to all of these great artists for donating their music for this segment, The One Word Mantra Of Peace.

After the segment was released as a download to communities the world over, reaction to the music was overwhelmingly positive and filled with emotion by the listeners, and the musicians that took part in this compilation.

There has been so much positive feedback of the music and the way it flows.

The lyrics of the songs presented and the underlying music send each artists expression of their thoughts of how the world around them has influenced their choice of message in collaborations and community spirit.

Certainly there must be more people out there that need to hear these musicians music in this amazing compilation, without the spoken word element of the broadcast included. Why? Because the music in this presentation encompasses the ability to bring forth many emotions in terms of our planet, it's inhabitants and ultimately, a want for peace to prevail.

SINGING FOR PEACE IN GEORGIA - @mantra-of-peace

An international movement is underway to sing for peace in Georgia.

For those of you who are unaware, Russia has been occupying many parts of central and western Georgia as a response to fighting that started in the mountainous district of South Ossetia on August 7th 2008. Besides damaging and/or threatening the Georgian infrastructure which already has serious negative implications for the Georgian, Armenian and Azerian economies, Russia and Russian backed separatists are preventing aid relief to thousands of civilians. In support of these civilians, singers of Georgian song from around the world are performing in solidarity on Wednesday August 20.
