I'm a rock instrumental guitarist from England. I've played in several bands over the years doing both originals and covers and (until the Covid-19 lockdown) was gigging regularly for fun with Kickin' Up Dust, a classic rock covers band. The instrumentals are all originals and I play all the instruments on them, but I've also made many good friends and collaborated with people all over the world thanks to the internet :)

Well, it's been a while since I've been able to spend some time here. Everytime I plan to, life has seemed to conspire to keep me away! Now things have (hopefully) settled down , I aim to be a bit more proactive, and to kick things off, I've posted a new video for an old song...

'Final Sunset' is the closing song for my CD 'Out Of The Ashes' although it was the first song written - this is a video I've put together for it...

http://www2.mixposure.com/Paul_Oakley/video_1592.php

Thanks for listening

--Paul

Firstly I have to say sorry I haven't been around here lately - actually i haven't been around anywhere much but that doesn't make me feel less guilty for asking for help

I have an online petition running to help protect the dolphins in the Moray Firth (Scotland), which are under threat from gov't plans to allow seismic surveying - all the details are on the petition site but I REALLY need your signatures (please!)

The petition is here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-the-moray-firth-dolphins/

These dolphins can be seen from the shore and are in a so called 'protected area' but this doesn't seem to make much difference - We welcomed these wonderful creatures into the bay and encouraged them to live, breed and fish in a protected area we created for them - now we risk driving them away (or worse, physically hurting them with the testing which can disrupt and damage their sonar and therefore their ability to fish and feed).

OK, rant over

I also have a video at YouTube that we took earlier in the year, set to one of the tracks from my CD...

YouTube link is: <a href=&quotProtect the Dolphins in the Moray Firth (Paul Oakley) Oakley

PS This isn't a political thing, it's about wildlife, ecology and the planet!

Well, I've finally finished the recording for my new CD and this is the last song.

I've (very!) reluctantly decided to sell my bike, so I wrote this to ease the pain a little

Put on your leathers, start your engines and enjoy the ride

http://www.mixposure.com/Paul_Oakley/music.php

--Paul

It's taken three months, but I've put together a video for my song 'Call of the Wild' - it's on my page and at YouTube here:

<a href=&quotCall of the Wild (Oakley/Carter/Millard); target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-small;"&gtCall of the Wild (Oakley/Carter/Millard) style="font-size: xx-small;">

The lyrics were written as a poem by my father-in-law, after seeing a documentary where they said that tigers could be extinct in the wild in two years. I wrote the music and Dave Millard added the amazing vocals. The download is for sale on my website (www.paul-oakley.com</a&gt and ALL the profits are going to wildlife charities - full details are on the website.

We're also selling CDs of the song - please contact me if you want one, although be warned, the postage to the US isn't cheap...
