Hi folks!
I've done another Steely Dan Cover. I can't help myself, it's too much fun!
It's really not finished yet, the mix is really rough (and so are my vocals in places, yikes!)
Anyway, here 'tis:
Daddy Don't Live In That New York City (No More)
There's kind of a story within the recording of this song. The guitar I used I bought sight unseen from Amazon for $140 brand new in the box. I already had a set of Seymour Duncan pickups laying around so...
I'm telling you, this guitar sings. It's one of those magical marriages of wood and pickups that somehow goes WAY above the sum of it's parts.
My band-mates call it "The Unicorn", because things like that only exist in myths, right?
Also: The main guitar part on the original recording was done by Larry Carlton, one of the G.O.A.T.'s. My apologies Larry.

OK, so I redid everything except the vocal, bass, and solos, and added another rhythm guitar. Also a (hopefully) much better mix.....

Anyway, this song was written by Booker T. Jones (if you don't know, Google!) and covered by everybody from Peter, Paul, and Mary to Joe Bonamassa. And now me!

It's a cover of a Webb Wilder song, written by David Grissom who also plays guitar on Webb's version. Webb Wilder is, of course, the Last Of The Full Grown Men , and I am a HUGE fan!
Actually, it's a pale imitation ....like, translucent. My apologies to any Webb Wilder or David Grissom fans out there.
If you have a chance go to YouTube and listen to the original. It took me a long time to get anywhere close ! And actually I'm not close because:
A) I'm NOT Webb Wilder
and
B) I'm definitely NOT David Grissom, who is one of the MONSTER guitarists on the planet.
So, yeah, not close......

Well, I made a really silly. stupid mistake and accidentally deleted all the songs from my new album. I was trying to make an album that folks could buy and still be able to stream and I screwed the pooch like a rank rookie.
I have re-uploaded the songs, but I lost all the really kind reviews you folks did and for that I am extremely sorry and upset.

Well, you folks said such kind things about the throw away lyrics I had on the demo I decided to go ahead and finish the song with that theme. I kinda polished up a few things and redid the vocal, but this may not (probably not) be the final mix.

I won't be posting this anywhere else, I just wanted to let you all have a laugh.

It's a "wip", the music is from a tune I've been working on, but the vocal isn't what will be on the final song. Not even close. They're just an idea I had that I scrapped but I recorded them as a "scratch" vocal for the other players. They're silly and probably politically incorrect in some places, and the phrasing is terrible (first take) but I thought they might give someone a giggle.
This is all first takes, no effects except what was recorded on the takes. I DID reverse the guitar solo on the end just for fun.
The "song" at the very end is an idea I've been working on but haven't filled out, the title is obvious once you listen to it. The "dialogue" is me being bored and silly.
Hope you like it in some way!

I have uploaded a remix of my song "Trip For Biscuits". I redid the vocals after some folks suggested they weren't up enough in the mix. I also tweaked a few other things and generally cleaned it up, and added about 30 seconds to the end (just because I like the groove, heh).

A short history of unimportant events.... - @rs-cain

Hello everyone, I wanted to tell you all I've missed you and this site and it's good to be back.
No reason to go into details, we all have our own lives to deal with, but I have gone through some life changing events in the past couple of years. The only thing that really kept me sane was music. But as I said, everybody has tough times and we carry on, don't we?
I have completely redone my "studio", including new, well, everything. PC, software, monitors, environment; it's all new and I'm having a great time trying to figure it all out! Love my toys!
Anyway, again, it's great to be back!
A brief note on the songs on my page....
I've been working on a CD of covers of some of my favorite Classic Rock tracks. It's been really challenging to record these songs and I've had some great help from some really incredibly talented folks. Also, I want to make it clear that I obtain licenses and pay royalties to the artists and composers of all of these songs.
I also have a CD of original tunes completed but not yet mastered. I'll put the tracks from that up as they are finished. You've probably heard some of them but I have been remixing and updating them.
