First, let me invite you to view my nightly v-log about making it in music without record companies, managers and middle-men (women, too). Here's the link: v-logs
I'm a "veteran"--performing and writing since 1971. I was published by Columbia/Screen Gems, Sunbury/Dunbar (RCA), and Interworld Music (Jimi Hendrix was in the catalog, too). Former member of Nic Danjer, Primadonna, Promise, and currently part of Foundation. My recent releases include "Also Known As" and "Rock the Big House Down." In 2009 I was nominated for Texas State Musician. Willie Nelson won, but at least he can say he beat out Ryan Michael Galloway ;-)
I've done a ton of mentoring, authoring, speaking, producing and promoting over the years--mostly on a regional basis. My books include The Band Promotion Turbo-Charger, Gigster Textbook, and Hits and Heartbreakers. I've founded www.GigsterClinics.com, www.WeDontNeedNoStinkingRecordCompany.com, and co-founded the Collin County Songwriters Association (now the immediate past chairman).
The mix of music is all over the place, the challenge of being a songwriter who is fascinated by so many genres. But the record companies are really the only ones that care that much about categorization, and frankly We Don't Need No Stinking Record Company!
