N3XUS RADIO TONIGHT FROM 8PM GMT - @wizard-sleeve

Tonight on N3XUS we will be celebrating the birth of even more new features around the site.

Firstly on our "Now Playing" page: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/ we have introduced a little feature at the top that gives some more information about the artist, if we have it some album art will display, and also if we have been supplied links to where people can buy the album this will display as well.

Also links to omd's websites etc will be displayed... pretty fantastic stuff even if i do say so myself.

ON TOP of all that there is something even more SPECIAL! What can be more special than that I hear you ask? Well... I have introduced a simple RATING system so that people can rate the tune that is playing, or that they request (http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/playlist.php?limit=100

So in addition to our top 100 requests chart we also have a top 20 by User ratings chart (that I will make bigger once we have had more ratings): http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/requests/top20rating.php

We have also just started SCROBBLING To LASTFM so you can see if you have been played and how many times each song you have played has played.. however this has only just been set up and i had a problem where it scrobbled the same track multiple times for some reason.. but once all the DJ's have this simple little feature set up the artists played should even out a bit. Since setting this up we have already played 746 different artists!!!!

Tonight, Live from 8PM GMT (3PM EST) we have an old friend visiting us, who you may remember from some of the old shows, but should definitly know from round the forums of late.. Jam.. or James, and he's determined to get me drunk. We might also have a guest apearance from my dad who is coming round for lunch today... so its going to be a full house...

We have had loads of new sign ups since posting about SOTY2008 over the web, however we haven't had many more submissions and nominations.

To enter the competition and recieve your chance of winning a prize just EMAIL your track to competitions@nexusradio.co.uk and please include your ARTIST NAME: SONG TITLE: and SONG GENRE: and obviously THE ACTUAL SONG/TUNE

If you missed my post yesturday here is a list of the predicted prizes

#1 overall gets a custom made t-shirt, a selection of CD's donated by some of the artists that post on N3XUS, A mug and a few little other bits and bobs.. Plus a posibilty of some really big prizes but we are still in negotiations for that

#2 and # 3 overall get a mug and bumper sticker

In the individual Genre sections...

#1 will recieve a hat and mug
#2 and #3 recieve a bumper sticker.

Also depending on the contests popularity we are planning on making a CD of the top 15 or so tracks of the year (with the artists permission of course) that will be used for artist promo, possibley prizes to the top 3 overall, future prizes in other competitions. We wont ever sell this CD unless all artists who allowed us to put their tracks on there are okay with it. And the money will only go into future competitions cos right now it all comes out of my own pocket...

Also if you win a couple of prizes... say you win a bumper sticker and a mug.. but you really want the hat.. you can exchange as long as the prizes you have are of the same value or more.

The more popular this contest gets the better the prizes will become... also we are hoping people will donate some prizes for the competition to.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I know some of you were slightly disapointed last week when i had to do an Auto Show due to moving in to a new house, but greatly relieved when Stef took over an hour into the show... well.. This week I am BACK but this is pretty much the first chance I have had to get on a computer in over a week and its almost show time, so I haven't got that interview with Mark C sorted yet.. however as soon as I get net and computer in the new place I will be back up to speed and being able to entertain you as usual.

This week the show plan is all over the piece, i just want to have a good time, listen to some great tunes, and bring you a couple of "exciting" news revelations from the last week... hopefully some of you will be there to enjoy the tunes with me, or maybe even send me some of your new ones.

Tonights show is going to be dedicated to the SOTY 2008 tracks. Sunday from 8PM GMT (3PM EST) Till about Midnight often later the Wiz is back in action.. and aparantly he has decided to talk about himslef in 3rd person today, I think he might be going mad... lets hope he doesn't keep it up during his show.

Soundclick is once again ripe with a few new tracks in their charts so fair few have been grabbed from there today in different genres. It might have taken a couple of months but a few new tracks worth downloading creapt in there. They will all be getting a spin tonight for sure.

Other than that.. well there hasn't been any interesting news this wee so we'll probably just resort to slagging off matty on team speak :P

I'm trying to work on a few things today to make the show extra SPECIAL, but my main priority is getting even more new music for tonights show first. - I hope to see you all their.. send any new tracks to me and I will be sure to play them out.

Hey folks, I know i am late with the message this week but this is the first oppourtunity i've had to actually post the message today so here goes. I've only had 4 hours sleep and been working all day, i am completly out of fuel so i am running on pure alcohol tonight, so sorry in advance for any slurring or mispronounciation of words n burbles.

Mark Cloutier was kind enough to send on over his latest CD - 6 Strings of Passion - So that will be getting a spin tonight on nexus for sure!! - If you like the cd you can check the label out at http://www.cdbaby.com/markcloutier and marks personal myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/markcloutier - ALSO we hope to have an interview done with him over the next few weeks so keep your eyes on the news posts around the forums!!!! Thats right I'm back tonight with the first Wizzie Mix n Mash in 2 Weeks... we finally have the internet sorted at joeys parents so we can do the shows... we move out in 4 weeks though so we have to deal with this joyas occasion then, but we should have 4 weeks uninterupted nuttyness on nexus, and hopefully if I can time everything right it wont be interupted in the next move.

Anyway tonight should be a pretty good one, no only do we have the Gunslinger Album - Earthquak in E-minor - to play out for you, but we have an exclusive interview with nigel potter and a never before heard acoustic track

If you haven't yet submitted your track them plaese send an email to: competitions@nexusradio.co.uk with you TRACK, and in the main body of the email include: "GENRE" "ARTIST NAME" and "TUNE TITLE" - These are required. You may need to VERIFY your email address with SPAMARREST, its a spam filter I use on the web thats amazing, when some one emails me who isn't in my contact/allowed list and email gets sent back to them they have to click a link and put in a magic word and then they are verified. It doesn't take long, and means ur emails will get to me. I havent had any spam since I started using spam arrest, so i would advise using them if you have issues with spam

Also I got a couple of CD's from SELF TORT, the sexy aussie lawyer who really knows how to rock. We'll be displaying some of his works from him tonight, some of which may even be fresh listens for me, especially the "acoustic" CD he sent me.

We also have a new member, Amber McDaniel, and I have one of her tracks to play out for you all tonight, you can find her on myspace

I'll probably be making a mockery of the day that seems to have no relevence to any of its religious significance.. and once i have done that I will probably make a mokery of the religions too.. you know how it goes. :lol:

Seeing as the Live AutoRequest Feature is so popular I think we might rename the Sunday mix n Mash the Sunday Request show and were going to stick with that for a while.. hey if people like the fact that 90% of the music all night is chosen by them then who am I to stop them?

its all a bit of a mystery for me as well.. I am currently scouring the web looking for some new music, but this week seems to have be pretty unproductive for most people. Either that or the downloads are switched off and I can't get their tracks.

What I do have for you tonight is this... **** Wizard Sleeve Night... I have been working on a few tracks recently, most for a game, one of which you know as reemmbering the homeland which has already been cunted, and did surprisingly well... well tonight you get the chance to **** a few of my other works in progress too, these tracks are incompletly, poorly produced and have many things you can **** them on so you can really "get your own back" on the cuntyest **** of them all.

We have been sent some new tracks, including a METAL track from RAPSTER which will of course be played later today and we will continue our usuall nuttyness.

BE WARNED!!!!! - The clocks have gone FORWARD an HOUR in america, this does not happen in europe for another week or 2, so be warned that My show will be later for you americans, and the other shows will be an hour Earlyer for you europeans.

Something wierd has happened to the blogs on this site... my last couple of entries have had all the spaces taken out of them, not between words but between lines.. they are all one jumbled mess... any particular reason for this?

SUNDAY? AGAIN? TOTAL REQUEST NIGHT!!! - @wizard-sleeve

This Past week or so I have been experimenting with the Broadcaster and Learning how to write scripts for it, to make broadcasting alot easyer for me. I have actually got to the point with the scripting where I could have a complete Auto-show where people can request stuff, it will add it to the playlist, plus run certain themes at certain points in the show... although problems will arise because people don't tag there tracks properly... I'm even guilty of the the GENRE tage being wrong.. I just leave all my stuff as DnB untill i do the final final mixdown, so if i did a DnB segment on the auto who knows what kinda stuff might crop up. Most stuff isn't even tagged or in a genre.

Bascially in tonights show i would like you all to participate in the new REQUEST page. its listed in numbers and from A-Z, it shows 25 results per page by default, but you can select it to show 50 or even 100.. down the bottom is the "next page" function if you want to see more in that particular number/letter.

What I am going to try and do is get everything tagged properly. Lots of tracks from soundclick are not tagged at all, but luckily from soundclick the filenames are artistname+songname.mp3 so it is easy enough to edit... I have found that I have hundreds of tracks, mainly from mixposure, that are not tagged properly at all.. especially when i used to do the mixposure top 10... so i have tagged those tracks Mix top 10 7 sept 06 - track name for now.. I might delete all the mixposure top 10 tracks all together.. but there are a few in there I know I would miss.

Anyway I would like help Tagging the tracks up properly, if you notice something playing, or in the playlist that is tagged wrong, please let me know either in chat or email.

Also if you notice any tracks making the stream go crazy please let me know straight away and the track will have to be completly removed from my harddrive.

Song of the Year 2008 Nominations/Submissions - @wizard-sleeve

Welcome to the SOTY 2008 Submissions/Nominations stage.

First things first... the rules:

1. The song/tune must be made in 2008 (or at least the later couple of months of 2007)

2. The song can be any genre, we are very liberal and like any tune as long as its good

3. The song must be submitted via email, either as a link or the file directly sent over email to: competitions@nexusradio.co.uk

The email must be layed out with the subject being: Song of the year 2008 (we run other competitions and I don't want to get confused..

In the main section of the email i will need this info

Artist Name:

Tune Name:

Genre:

These are required because:

a) most people don't tag their tracks properly

b) every track is going to put in to a new folder called song of the year 2008 in that folder will be genre folders, then artist folders, and it makes it much easyer if we can save directly to there instead of having to listen to every submission to find out where to put it.

c) if you can't handle sending an email like this there is no chance you can write a half decent song :lol: :P

4. The song cannot be one that was nominated for song of the year 2007, 2007 has passed, this year its all about NEW MUSIC from all different genres.

Personally I would like to see some more Electronic music this year, IE Trance, DnB, IDM, Industrial etc... but I am not adverse to rock, metal, funk, blues and all the other stuff as well.. its just i would like the genres to have even more variation than they did last year.

5. Once a song has been subitted it will be played out at least bi-weekly on nexus radio on most if not ALL of the shows so it gives a chance for everyone to hear the tracks in the runnings for SOTY

6. Tracks can then be NOMINATED by making a post in this thread at nexus radio (if your reading this on another site please click here: http://www.nexusradio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=996) with every extra person you want to add please EDIT YOUR POST untill i do a TALLY, after that Create a new post and keep editing untill i do another TALLY

7. You cannot Nominate yourself, and I would rather no one nominated me (Wizard Sleeve)

8. You can only vote for 2 tracks from the same artist, though collabs count as a different artist so you could nominate every single colab from some one plus 2 solo tracks if you want, although not more than 2 collabs from the same artists... so only 2 stef/sly collabs, but as many stef/other people collabs.

9. As with last year; tracks with 1 nomination are eligble for the bottom spots, 2 or more for the middle spots, and 3 or more for the top spots

11. This competition is really just a load of fun to be had on nexus radio. Don't take it too seriously its just a way for us to play out some great tunes from artists all round the web, give them some recognition, and at the end of the competition send out some funny lil prizes to thank them for letting us play out there tunes and supporting nexus radio. If you think its too early for this then your wrong... we are collecting entries and nominations for the next 11 months and the final voting happens in December!

Its sunday again.. EEK thats all I can say.

I have been ill all week and am still ill but am going to try and drink through the sore throat so i sound a lil better for you all.

The show MUST go on and its getting nearer to XMAS and the end of the SONG OF THE YEAR competition.

So as you can imagine... Coty has been sending in Xmas songs (sorry everyone with taste) and I will be playing some of the SOTY tunes for our new members at some point in the show too.

Other than that, hope everyones had a great week, and has got all there XMAS shopping out the way.

Tonights Sunday Salve SHOULD be a good one... I have got some new music from Soundclick and IMS, we got some Metal, Trance, Ska, and Ambient Stuff, not to mention all of your favorites!!!

Also tonight we are doing a small RESONANT SOUL Featurette as I finally have a LARGE wadge of their tunes, which should be fun, and if Fowlah is about maybe I can get him on TEAMSPEAK to have a word with us all too!

We also get to play around with my new SOUNDCARD to make the shows HOPEFULLY alot better. - I'm on the new PC tonight so hopefully that will eliminate at least some of the problems I had with the broadcasting software, but I am sure having a new pc and soundcard is also going to MAKE problems as well.

Johnno MIGHT pop round with his guitar tonight also, so we might have a lil live air jam and some NAME THAT TUNE.. it will be electric this time if he does brin it (I hope) but I am sure we can work something out.

Another week has passed, its sunday again, and I hope to see you all tonight from 8PM GMT (3PM Eastern US) on http://www.nexusradio.co.uk where we play all the best unsigned artists.

This week I have dedicated my tune finding time soley to http://www.imusicscene.com using their weekly charts going through and listening to EVERY downloadable tune, and downloading the ones I liked.

In Fact the only tunes I didn't download were ones I already had, there is some great talent over at iMusicScene.com, if you haven't been there already I suggest you go there now!

Whats the DJ SPACE I hear you ask? Well fromt he front page on http://www.nexusradio.co.uk there are links on the top left that say Wizard Sleeve, RScain, Matty n Stef..

These all take you to the personal DJ pages, for example http://wizardsleeve.nexusradio.co.uk where each DJ can create a personal page to promote his show.

From there there are some great tools, such as the world wide schedual and the AUTO REQUEST FEATURE...

Whats that I hear you ask? Where have you been!!! Underneith the Image on that page is a button that say Requests, click that and you get an a-z listing of all the tracks in the DJ's Playlist all you have to do is find a tune you want and click REQUEST.

This is why TAGGING your tracks properly is important, we as DJ's are constantly having to manually tag tracks but there are plenty that we are unable to do due the artist/title not being in the file name.. it makes it hard for us to promote you and you wont appear properly on our playlist.

Whats Tagging I hear you ask... well lets start simple..

1. Download Winamp Free from http://www.winamp.com its the best thing to listn to nexus radio on and also is EASY to teach you how to tag.

2. Load the file into your playlist

3. Right click the file and select "view file info"

4. Check the ID3v1 Tag

5. Fill in Title, and Artist.. you can fill in any extra info you want but its not important.

Click UPDATE

6. If you like you can also Check ID3v2 Tag on the right hand side, click COPY FROM ID3v1, and add any extra info you want...

Click UPDATE

HEY EVERYONE, just a short message to let you know that this sundays show will be completly AUTOMATED - I am moving house today and we still have loads of crap to move and unpack.. I just don't have the time to do a LIVE Show - So whats going to happen is this.. A preprogrammed show dedicated to YOUR REQUESTS.

How is works?

Once an hour you will here me (pre recorded) telling you that I will be playing 3 Tracks in "Y" Genre from "X" OMD.. Other than that the whole show is YOUR REQUESTS - they will be automatically added to the que and played whenever.

Please be patent there will be other people requesting too and if they request before you their track will be played before yours as well.. Also at 11PM GMT (6PM EST) the top 10 requests for the Sunday Show will automatically be played out too!!!

I will do my best to check in as and when i can on the show, I thought we would be all moved by now but I guessed wrong, and some of the people who said they would be here to help didnt come so we had more to do ourselves.

The chat and everything will still be running and if all goes well I will be here at the end of the Night to finish off the show.

Nexus Radio - @wizard-sleeve

Nexus Radio is an online radio station that has been running for over a year, and is growing rappidly.

It was an idea in Wizard Sleeves eye for many years when he noticed that not one OMD had an online radio station. He put together a list of Idea's and took it to his then favorite OMD Mixposure. The manager seemed interest but after a year of talking about updates and not doing anything Wizard Sleeve got ants in his pants and just decided to start doing a show out of his own pocket for unsigned artists, and Mixposure could catch up if it wanted to. (this never happened, infact over the course of the next 2 years the manager was so terrible and the site went down so many times that near everyone gave up on it)

It started on a day Quietman, and old school friend of Wizard Sleeve, popped up almost completly out of the blue after being invisible for about 2 years. They did a fantastic show, although having not broadcasted for a while there were a few hiccups, and started to build an audience, as well as searching for more tracks from unsigned artists all around the web.

They did a few more shows together and even had "The Skadows" round (and old ska band from the 70's) play live on a couple of shows. Through a lack of support from quietman, be it financial or research, Wizard Sleeve took on a partner, R.S. Cain, who had been doing a show on live 365 for a while, and they began to build a masterpiece.

They now have 2 streams, a hifi that is 96kbps and a lofi that is 24kbs, as well as having 3 different shows a week. They are on the lookout for more DJ's, but are doing fine with there sunday to tuesday shows, as well as having the shows re-air throughout the week so if you miss it, nexus is always on and you can listen in.

Nexus, through lack of any support from other OMD's (even though they play out songs from, and promote the sites for free) is completly funded by R.S.Cain and Wizard Sleeve, not to mention a few generous donators, and they are planning on taking things a step further and turning it into an OMD, in the hope that Nexus one day will not only generate enough money so they can keep playing out your music for free, but also be a place where record companies can come to find out whats hot and whats not.
