My maternal grandparents were two amazing people, but they both passed away just recently.

My grandfather......started as a muskrat trapper, later became a logger, and finally bought some land in Colorado and became a farmer. When he was a logger, he worked in the redwoods, and felled some incredible trees. I have a picture of him cutting through a tree trunk with a diameter bigger than my apartment's living room.

My grandmother truly had the heart of a servant. She collected strawberries, and it seemed like everything in the kitchen had a strawberry on it. During meals, we'd all try to get her to sit down, but she was invariably popping up to get refills and seconds for everyone.

They'll both be missed terribly, but I'm glad they've gone to a place without suffering.
