On the run from some bad guys armed with guns He ran off into some God-forsaken scrubland known as Yucca Flats Turns out his timing was bad; sometimes things don’t turn out like you plan No one knows why the U.S. government picked that day to test an atomic weapon I guess he didn’t see the signs: “KEEP OUT! Atomic Weapon testing TODAY!” This was back in the day when fences were out of fashion – The government of the day Relied on the good sense of its good citizens to keep their noses out of things That didn’t concern them – like atomic weapons testing To make as short story shorter, he was at ground zero when the explosion went off He was exposed to radiation; that sure ain’t no vacation; just bad luck and desperation Chorus: And that’s why….he’s the Beast of Yucca Flats The noted scientist became a partially melted scientist – with a porridge-like complexion A vacant stare…and a propensity for senseless murder by strangulation or bludgeoning It really is amazing what radiation will do to a man’s notions of things right and wrong You could say his perspective on things became slightly skewed With senseless murder on his mind – he ain’t got nothing but time on his side So he roams the countryside – who will be the next to die Don’t let your family go out there – he may catch your kids and then you’ll be sorry That is, unless your kids can outrun a four hundred pound ex-wrestler Chorus: And that’s why….he’s the Beast of Yucca Flats
Song Information
A laughably funny/bad B-grade monster flick. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the inane.

After the rip roaring beast of haunted sea, this is much more subdued, a story teller piece.
The only "Sounds like" that springs to mind is early Alice Cooper.

A Cry of Hounds formed in late 2007, rising from the ashes of destiny to soar straight into your ears, your heart, and your soul with their unique brand of 60's- influenced, B-grade monster movie garage rock.
Many have inquired into the origins of this intriguing musical group...
Searching for musically kindred spirits, two-fingered guitarist/vocalist Screamin' J was released from the home for the criminally deluded after serving two consecutive life sentences for various musical crimes too macabre to repeat. Desperate to support his almost diabolical obsession, he agreed to donate portions of his body to musical "science". He sacrificed two of the fingers of his left hand and significant portions of his vocal cords in a bizarre and doomed attempt to create a rock and roll super-monster. Interestingly, he found very little if any effect on his playing and singing ability...
Recovering from the botched transplant operation, he was fortunate to meet drummer Richard "The Wood Chipper", who was assisting in a laboratory experiment attempting to cross DNA stolen from Thirteenth Floor Elevators' frontman Roky Erickson with the remains of Bela Lugosi. Tragically but not surprisingly, the experiment was a failure. However, the seeds of righteous musical mayhem were sown in the lab that day. These seeds would bear much fruit...
Mary Queen of Vampires was persuaded to join the band as bass player and vocalist after being promised a ready supply of music to feed her insatiable desire for all things dark and beautiful...her thundering and poetic bass riffs flow and pulse like the very wellspring of life itself...
Captain Curtis the Undead Pirate was enticed to make for land and jump ship upon receiving the invitation to complete the monstrous ensemble. His keyboard prowess and soaring tenor proved the final piece of the puzzle...and his expert ability with various hand-saws proves useful from time to time as well...
This, then, is A Cry of Hounds in all their garage rock glory. You owe it to yourself to check out their music. And you owe it to yourself to play it LOUD!
