@ab2
To review, or not to review, THAT is the question...
I heard on the grapevine recently that writing more reviews than one recieves is not good...I heard say that those people who do that, you know, write more reviews than they receive are Wa.ko wa.kers who have little talent...I guess I have to class myself amongst them then....I`ve written quite a few more reviews than I`ve received, maybe that`s because I like to review, like to listen to other people`s music and why not review while I`m listening if I like what I`m listening to regardless of how many I`ve written or recieved...Do I now have to think...Hey, am I writing one more than I`ve received? Damn, where`s the love????? WHERE IS THE LOVE....??? I always thought that music sites were for mutual love, not somewhere to come and give others a kick for having written a few more reviews than others.. ;( Where is the love?
Peace n love Margot x
Ok then....Thankyou everyone for your input here...Not really a nice subject, we`ve had our say and now I feel it`s time to put this baby to sleep.. I`ve moved it to the bottom of my list where hopefully it will slumber peacefully...
Love, hugs and PEACE to all...xxx

I think its a mutual respect thing as well, although I too havent had alot of online time to be listning , but I do when I can..
there are some awsome muso's here and its a buzz to get a good coment on a song that you've worked hard on or need advice on etc..
excuse me. wrong door.
I heard it thru the grapevine....by Marvin Gaye , is perhaps the only grapevine "thing" I'd really listen too or appreciate. LOL
I was so totally amazed at the talent on this site, reviews and words of appreciation just seemed like the right thing to do.Nothing has changed...AMAZING PEOPLE with loads of talent.I enjoy listening and making music.......and IF while listening I'd like to make a comment or 2.........so be it.... !! I'm no good at crunching numbers.... I'll leave that up to the accounting dept. )
peace..hugs n luv ,
Larry
Kinda silly. Review or don't. Be happy, listen to music.
Gee I thought, " try and play nice and don't run with scissors in your hand, or the corn-dog stick still in your mouth. " was stuff we learned BEFORE we learned how to type.
I'm lucky enough to have received many of reviews...maybe because I've had my songs up here rather longer than most of you ... Still I think I've written more than twice as many as I've received...
I don't feel like a talentless wank... but then maybe that's just my over-sized ego _(G)_
In any event- I think this is a non-issue. Ya either like doing them or you don't. Not like we can, or should make anyone.
Breath deep, ignore it.
Best,
m
Mags.
Do what you do,ignore any opinion that says "YOU SHALT!"
We do this for fun,we signed no contracts in blood.
Nigel.
understod margot-i know you were not complaining --i was just throwing in that comment--thats all-cause you should be getting more-more more-reviews-simply cause you are talented---ha ha we review cause we like tolisten and i like to watch musicians get better and grow--many have done that in past 4 years i have been on line
I listen I learn,...love listening to the ideas...love meeting new muso friends..reviews?,...I done a few...'"but then again", "too few to mention"...and I'll dooooo it mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy wwwwwwwwwway!!.
thank you...thank you very much....
hey... don't get me wrong here... i'm not the most prolific reviewer of music on here... but i think a couople of points are useful to remake here:
1. the community thing is important... and the community of 'real' people you live in may well have arseholes in it too..? they're just 'out there'
2. my listening to internet music is hindered by circumstance and technology (basically it is not always a good idea to try and listen to anything on a laptop... where i do the bulk of my work)
i hear some amazing stuff on here... yeah i wish i could review more... but it is difficult... and i guess i don't want to seem to be some kinda freeloader by default because of some rumour..? and a reviews deficit..?
Margot... do what you're happy doing... you seem like a genuine person to me..
The funniest thing that I have heard! I think, the people who are saying this are a bit envious of other musicians? When you and I write reviews than we do it because we enjoy to listen to music. If I would be busy to promote myself I would not be here - we are members of a community who love to listen to each others music. People like me sometimes don't write reviews for months, this has non-musical reasons. People who think of "tactics" all the time or thinking of "the golden strategy" deny the cruel reality of music business and are stupid.
Thanks Mark...Much appreciated though I did`nt want compliments for my "so called" talent..ehhee...not the reason I wrote the blog. I wrote it to try to make the point that sometimes it`s nice just to listen and review, for listening and reviewings sake..:-)...
Peace n love... Mags xx
I guess I am a **** as well. I like listening to other peoples music simply because I never know if I am going to find a diamond out there!
margot--just makes you a giver rather than receiver--tis a good thing!! no shortage in talent on your part--!!!!enjoy and do what you feel!!
my feeling is this: people who review alot are warm hearted, caring and generous whether they have fewer or more reviews.. my kind of people..
my kind of family..
Wow...I did`nt expect the response that my comment here has gotten...Wow...Thankyou so much to all of you for jumping on this one...I, like all of you will continue to review the way I like to, and if that means writing more than receiving, then that`s what I`ll do...I`m no saint, and at times like all of us, I write to maybe get some coverage on a new song...but really, that`s not the be all and end all...Let`s just all do our own thing, xxx...Once again, thankyou for the response..
Peace n love Mags xxx
Hi All
Funny how some things don't change. I had to shoot off to finish some project work for a month, and before I left there was a heated blog on the same issue.
Now I for one use the reviewing process to get a chance to hear what people on this site are doing. And to help me generate a bit of inspiration for my work.
Theres serious talent on this site, and it's probably the most prolific place I've ever come across for new music in any style.
Whether I get more reviews than I give is irrelevant cause I get a lot from each listen. So a bit of encouragement to the artist for sharing their work is I think a fair trade.
As for talentless, all of us have a talent of some description otherwise we wouldn't be here. For those that wish to criticise, let them put their money where the mouth is and put up their work for judgment. After all we can all give it, but it takes more balls to take it.
