This was a collaboration that proves time can be transcended through commonality. The words were actually written by 3 8th grade Middle School Students I had the opportunity to teach back in 1998. They had the recording "bug" and Alanis Morrisette was big then. They came up with a lyric and melody about a young friend who was on the way to becoming an alcoholic at age 13. As beautiful as the words are, this song spoke to excursions into escape at the hands of a bottle. The words lent very well to the simple melodic idea that has become this song. This was a 10 year work in progress that I've finally finished. A proud moment for me because I discovered through this process that my students actually did listen to me on occassion and i did have a influence in their lives. Tiffany, Heather and Regina, wherever you are and whatever you are doing, i hope to see you again soon and let you hear your song.
