WILL THERE BE TOMORROW
I originally wrote this song in the mid 80's...when things in the world were really starting to take really obvious turn for the worse. The problems in the Middle East were getting very bad. Acid rain and pollution of the environment were documented facts...but were getting rapidly worse. Brutality and war were everywhere. Politicians were indifferent and impotent. Anti-trust Laws were systematically being dismantled..creating monpolies in all areas and economic sectors. The lives of the average person took a back seat to Corporate bottom lines. Job security became non-existent. Violence and drugs ruled all major urban areas. Even the Free Press and the airwaves came under corporate control...and misinformation, distraction, and complete fabrications of facts became the only "information" available. The world...as it had always been...was vanishing before our eyes.
In the twenty years since then...every single one of these conditions has only gotten worse. Today...Global Warming and the melting of the Polar Ice is threatening all life on this planet at an alarmingly fast rate. The technology to reverse this problem has existed for a while...but is being surpressed or discredited by corporations who are only concerned with total control over all aspects of life...even if it means...the destruction of all life. Politicians today are paid employees of these corporations. The population has been conditioned into staying home and feeding their television addiction...which continues to relentlessly pound home the complete falsehood that things are great...and anyone who says otherwise is just a liberal alarmist. People are more worried about whether Monday Night Football is on...than they are worried about floods, famine, a poisoned environment, and how those things will all eventually lead to the breakdown of society...as we have always known it. Terrorism...although real...isn't remotely as much of a problem as an unstoppable natural catastrophe that will change life on this planet forever...if not end it altogether.
The lyrics to "Will There Be Tomorrow" were re-written in June 2006 to reflect the dire facts we all now face as a species. We are so distracted with fighting with each other...that we cannot even see the approaching storm. The song's title is today, a very real question that needs to be asked...and addressed...before it is too late to take action of any kind. As the song says...at this time..."we're all racing to the finish"...and "we're too blind to see." Since the media and the news refuse to talk in frank and honest terms about this imminent disaster in any meaningful way (other than an occasional sound-byte here and there)...I felt that music...which used to be a real force for change before the corporations closed all the airwaves to everything but their own shortsighted agendas of profit and control...might be a way to begin asking the real questions...that we all need to start talking about...if we expect to have a world to pass on to those who follow us.

Wow what a great riff to kick this in !
ZZ springs to mind especially when the bass kicks in too this pounds along really nicely.
Vocals have that attitude that makes this style of music so accessible.
Compostion is very tightly controlled, you guys know how to play and how to get the dynamics up and running too.
Kudos to the drummer freaking cool !
Sly
Another great rock song....and yes, i agree with the sentiment expressed here. A host of good questions and observations. Musically, another very solid piece from both the writer's and player's perspectives. Vocals are ON too. Superbly solid Mike! ~Blake
Will There Be Tomorrow?" Who cares when we can rock today with an Avalanche of tunes like this one. This one has the crunch and bite to match the lyrics - real world rock 'n' roll. It's obvious you've been at this a long time.
