Well here I am out on the porch watchin the sun in the sky
I watched it rise I’ll see it set waitin till evening comes by
I see the trees move with the breeze and hear the wind in their leaves
Sittin right here just sippin beer I seem to have all I need
Who needs more just be a chore workin can be such a bore
The ears of corn are growin tall down in my back yard
So are the weeds but they can wait don’t wanna work too hard
They’ll still be there no need to stare I’ll hoe them when I’ve a care
Don’t know when but until then still corn enough to share
Who needs more etc
The chickens are out scratchin the ground lookin for worms and seeds
They don’t lay too many eggs but there’s enough for a feed
Down in the shed and under the bed bottles of home brew are laid
It’s kinda rough get drunk sure enough wake up with a sore head
Who needs more etc
So here I am out on the porch watchin the day go by
Just like the last but if I want tomorrow can be what I like
Go where I please or just take my ease watchin the wind in the trees
Sit right here just sippin beer or be as free as the breeze
Who needs more etc

This silly thing grew on me midway through it. Gotta say this was a fun one.

I have been involved with music and bands in Perth, Western Australia since the late '60's when I played rhythm, lead and bass guitars with a variety of pop and rock bands. However by the mid '70's I had tired of the scene and virtually retired until the early '90's when I started playing acoustic music. These days I play mainly mandolin, dobro, bass and guitar but also some bouzouki, dulcimer, synth and even occasional flute (I won't mention the banjo). Recently I have started to grapple with the clarinet but I think it'll be a while yet before it's heard in public.
2001 and 2002 were busy years for me, gigging in three different bands:- Dingo's Breakfast (an Oz music and poetry band), Off My Cloud (a pub circuit Rolling Stones tribute band) and Otters Brew (a medieval folk-rock band).
I relocated to the south coast of WA in 2003 and have become more involved in writing and recording than in gigging since then.
