Well loves... it's official! I suck at updating all the sites I am on.
The new album was released in January and only now am I uploading some tunes from it to Mixposure. Sorry about that. I'm on Facebook and Twitter more and more these days it seems. It's a better centralized location for all the 'stuff'.

Hope you are all well and that you enjoy my latest originals. Lots coming in 2013 so stay tuned on Facebook if you want to stay up to date. http://www.facebook.com/nataliebrownmusic

About the new album "The Relationship Odyssey"

These songs, in an electro-soul / R&B / Pop style, represent an odyssey through personal relationships of fictional and real-life characters. This album was 2 years in the making, all recorded in a home studio I built with my writing/production partner in Toronto, Canada.

This was the first time I used “Crowd Funding” as a way to pay for an album. The experience was both exciting and nerve-wracking! Normally my recordings are funded up-front and then I try to sell enough to pay for the album and it was interesting this time to pre-sell it. Even though I felt that having the funds up-front would be helpful, there ended up being a lot more pressure having to guarantee that I would like what was recorded and creating a product that was worthy of release. An artist doesn’t necessarily always like what they create and it’s always nice to have the flexibility to keep recording until you’re happy rather than release on an artificial deadline. The experience was indeed a roller-coaster but I’m glad to have gone through it.

Sharing the songs and giving updates via my YouTube video blogs as they were being written was a great way to get feedback, and the interaction, while it made me feel vulnerable was inspiring and gave me a lot more confidence and strength. Since these songs are about relationships, it’s been good to hear that people are able to relate to one or more of the topics covered in “The Relationship Odyssey’.

Pick up a copy of the album and I’m sure you will enjoy it if you are a fan of Pop/Electro-Soul/R&B music!

Buy "The Relationship Odyssey"

SAIDAT freeing the world from bullying with her new single ‘Set the World Free’.
By vickyberry, 2012-09-04

Hip-hop singer Saidat is trying to make a difference by spreading her inspirational message of anti-bullying through her fabulous music. Saidat’s goal is to help people feel good about who they are and know that they can make a difference in the world. Working with producer Kustom, Saidat’s new single Set the World Free was created to help people realize the power of love and to inspire and motivate kids.

Saidat’s own personal stories of struggle and triumph presented in her music explain her motivations for spreading her message amongst a new generation. She knows all too well the effects of bullying, making her the perfect example of overcoming struggle and making a difference in her own life and now in other’s. Saidat has always been a help to the community - after high school, Saidat would work as a volunteer at schools, youth groups and community organizations to help young people.

Amongst Saidat’s new single ‘Set the World Free’ Saidat has been made a new ambassador for Free2Luv foundation amongst other huge celebrities such as Tom Arnold, Vanessa Hudgens and Lisa Kudrow! Saidat has also been involved with a DVD curriculum for schools that will help keep the anti-bullying message alive, a book release in the fall “Tadias And the Pitbully Tree” (children’s fiction book) and a short film “What Have We Done?”. All this is as well as having opened for Fergie in 2008!

Listen to Saidat’s fantastic track:

http://soundcloud.com/saidat-1

www.saidat.ca

www.facebook.com/saidat

www.twitter.com/saidat2motivate

www.youtube.com/SAIDATmusic

www.reverbnation.com/saidatflava

http://free2luv.org/

Try out Saidat’s app ‘Saidat’ for apple or android devices!

Miccoli

For over four years Birmingham band Miccoli made up of twin brothers, Adriano and Alessandro , along with their sister, Francesca , have toured the US and the UK honing a sound that has been compared to everyone from Snow Patrol to Coldplay .They have gigged in the Viper Rooms and every other key rock venue across America , written songs ,worked with legendary producers . They have hung out with Motley Crue, written songs, had an altercation with Paris Hilton in a toilet. Written more songs, been cautioned by the highway patrol, written songs and learnt a great deal about producing their own music. They have played the O2 Wireless festival, lived in their car with a mobile bar and cooker they built themselves, written and performed more songs, had one of the members of the band suffer a near fatal heart operation. They have turned down a gig for Kevin Costner, wrote and performed even more songs , moved to Penang and landed a sponsorship deal , shot their debut video , written more songs , performed more gigs and that is just the half of it.

They look almost too good to be true and it is important to underline this as in itself given what they have been through on the road to still be in any shape at all is a victory and given that their tales of what has happened on the road is more akin to a thrash metal band it is clear fate has smiled on them in many ways. They sound like they have been having hits for the last five years, the vocals of Adriano and Alessandro who swap lead duties are threaded together by the hypnotic beauty of Francesca’s whose voice is the backdrop to the tight sound they create. Yet the beauty of their music also highlights an intensity and a feeling that they have indeed paid their debt to rock n roll in the most extreme ways.

Although gigging , recording and writing have been their life for the past few years , the focus is firmly now on releasing their music. This in no small part , as referred to earlier, is due to the band nearly not being here at all if Alessandro’s heart condition , in which his heart rate escalated to 250bpm , he underwent emergency surgery, then had to have four further heart operations, had proved the end rather than the beginning for Miccoli.

This traumatic period gave the band time to regroup, get serious, rethink and put their adventures and life experiences into context finding solace in the studio , re-defining their writing and taking their music to another level, all their experiences and emotion being combined into a musical cocktail that is Miccoli’s sound of today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeBdti_CoW8

Hoodie Dubsteppers, Ooberfuse successful in helping Catholic Church find new priests in the UK
By vickyberry, 2012-09-04

The Catholic Church’s innovative decision to ask Ooberfuse a four piece street savvy band from London, to help them show how God speaks to the young of the UK, perhaps to be the next generation of clergy ,has proved a huge success since its inception in the spring of this year. The initiative was the brainchild of Father Christopher Jamison , Head of the Catholic Church of England & Wales' National Office of Vocation, who decided that by using music appealing to a wide cross section of the public who might not ordinarily think of The Church as an employment route he could encourage the youth to view a life in the clergy as a serious life time option.

As Hal from Ooberfuse explains - Up until Father Jamison's initiative the church in many ways co-existed in splendid isolation from the world ie. It stood as a self-sufficient fortress in opposition. Catholics were found in corners, and alleys, and cellars, and attics, in the recesses of the country, some may say , cut off from the world around them, dimly seen, as if through a mist or in twilight, as ghosts flitting too and fro.

Now The Church wants to start a conversation with the world and has chosen the music of Ooberfuse as part of the language of that conversation. Through it Father Jamison hopes to engage with otherwise unreachable sectors of the population. Dub step, the national language of the hoodie state, is like Heineken...it reaches parts that other languages, like Latin and Greek, do not reach..

‘We are forging a culture of vocation and a culture includes music and the arts.’ Explains Father Jamison ‘So the song from Ooberfuse is part of the new phase of vocational culture amongst workshops in deaneries and parishes’

The Catholic Church’s desire to work with Ooberfuse clearly shows a strategy to target the street culture of the UK in their efforts to broaden interest and appeal . It is just one of the causes that the band have been asked to support including being asked to use their music to support the Pakistani Woman Asia Bibi imprisoned and on a death sentence for blasphemy. Just another strange story in the growing awareness behind the band whose members include relatives of Chairman Mau and an unbroken link within one of the band back to post Norman Britain.

Assassin – renowned for his work with such artists as Fat Joe, Eazy E, Kurupt and the phenomenal Tupac Shakur – was approached by Shot 21 and impressed with Shot’s passion and lyrics.

Shot 21 has also enjoyed collaborating with Ictus’s very own Andy Allen. Amongst this body of work was his hometown’s - Leicester - club favourite “Set The Mic On Fire”.
A Number 1 album showcasing the timeless talent of Andy Leek – by the production of Beatles producer Sir George Martin; who stated that “Andy is one of the most talented artists I have ever produced”

Andy became a member of iconic 80’s band Dexy's Midnight Runners from the ripe age of 16; having already played on Radio 1 twice in sessions with John Peel and on Radio 2’s live ‘in’ concert.

Andy played on the No 1 Hit "Geno" and on the album “Searching for the Young Song Rebels” at the beginning of his journey. Since leaving the band, his solo career has blossomed with the displays of his talents – his flair for writing songs is evident by him writing for the likes of Tom Jones and Frida (from Abba) “Twist in the Dark” (1984) was the track off the album “Shine”, that, arguably, gave Frida her greatest artistic success after leaving ABBA.

Jeff Wall (Caught in the Act) said “Say Something” was a “pearl hidden on the floor of the black ocean”, as its exciting production- uniting talents Andy Leek and producer Sir George Martin- was brushed under the carpet at the time, drowning in an influx of Britpop and synthesisers, and for twenty years, was consigned to lie in a publishers loft. But, since then, Say Something has been dug out by many willing enthusiasts, with offers to re-master the timeless tracks. The renewed album includes two remixes by hot U.K producer Rachel James, brand new songs: “All Around the World” and “So Blind” plus an exclusive interview with George Martin himself on why he produced the album. As well as impressing industry legends, like Jools Holland, with his “undiscovered classic”, Andy has established his appeal to the masses through his meaningful melodies and lyrics: During the civil war in Beirut in 1990, the title track “Say Something” became not only Number 1 in the top 100 songs of that year, but also an anthem of inspiration to the people during their hardships.

All recorded at A.I.R Studios, the album is published by E.M.I Music with distribution by Universal Music Operations
