Comics on Mixposure

Hey Everyone!

I am hoping you can help spread the word on something new we are doing at Mixposure. I have wanted to add this for some time and finally got around to it. We have added a new "Artist" if you will for Comedians. So comedians can now signup and upload their stand-up shows they have done live or from their own recording studio. Eventually what we would like to do is create a new hour long radio show of various comics. I think it would be a lot of fun!

So please add it to your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or any other form of communication you can think of to help spread the word!

DARKER SIDE OF MYSELF

By ErikJurado, 2011-01-21
DARKER SIDE OF MYSELF

I was remembering a darker side of myself...

We lived in Pomona, California and I went to an after school program immediately after enrolling in my 3rd different school that fourth grade school year. For the 3rd time in a year I had to make friends. Compound that with the end of the school year and there you'll see the desperate situation I found myself in... so I needed to come up with something big to attract the sense of importance and it had to be big.

I started my own gang. I called it the CHEETAHS and explained to the other kids how we would we practice running every day so we'd be fast. Here is what made us different... we would be helpful one day - like picking up litter and helping out teachers... then the next day we would go to the fields and cuss, talk about girls, light matches & burn things. My theory was that if anyone told on us doing bad things or if they found out that something "accidentally" caught on fire, we'd be the first ones off the hook since we were seen as "the good kids."

So I recruited 3 other kids who thought it sounded fun. There were a couple of heart-pounding moments - like a fire that almost got out of hand - we weren't those "4 dopey kids trying to fill the day being helpful" that the teachers thought we were... CHEETAHS were wild. crazy, jungle animals that no sane human being could comprehend! It ended almost as quick as Cheetahs... not sure what that means, but it sounds like it should make sense. After my dad got a job 30 miles away I had to disband these fierce predators, since I couldn't keep my position as gang leader because I couldn't afford to take care of myself. Ever since the day we left, I always believed that kids needed to get their ship together!

The day we moved to Redondo Beach, California was a day that evil lost a piece of its history. Life could have been brutal had my dad stayed put.

SINcerely,

ERIK

Things That Piss Me The **** Off - Inst # 2

By Sam Houston, 2011-01-20

Ok, one more. I was going to try to do one every other day or one a week, which I will try to do. But for now, I couldn't resist one more.

This particular one has to be hilarious to watch....I wouldn't know though cause it WAS ALWAYS HAPPENING TO ME.....damn it.

Imagine if you will, being on stage, singing something along the lines of "<a href=&quotGeorge Jones - LIVE "He Stopped Loving Her Today" Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones (click the link for the song). This particular song has been called the greatest country song of all time. One thing is for sure, it's definitely one of the saddest, if not THE saddest song ever. It's a song about a man whose woman left him but he never stopped loving her and longed for her year after year. He kept pictures of her and all the old love letters they had between them. In the end, as the song says, he stopped loving her today....because he finally died. So, you can imagine, each time I performed it, I wanted to put as much emotion into it as humanly possible, and the crowds expected that.

You know that when you sing a slow sad song you want to get close to the mic, or even against it, so you can manipulate your voice better. So, imagine me on stage trying to sing this terribly sad song..........and the PA isn't grounded quite right. So every time my wet lips touched the mic ...... BVVVVVVVT ..... shocked the dog water out of me. And I would usually cuss and everybody could hear me.

So the song would end up like this....

He said I'll love BVVVVVVVT you 'til I die BVVVVVVVT ....damn it

She told BVVVVVVVT him you'll forBVVVVVVVTget in time

As the years went slowly BVVVVVVVT by ....f***

She still preyed upon his mind ....leaning over to guitar player...."go fix this son of a ****"

He BVVVVVVVT kept her picture on his wall ....shit

Went half crazy now and then BVVVVVVVT

He still loved her BVVVVVVVT ....OW! through it all

Hoping she'd come BVVVVVVVT POP back again

Kept some POP letters by his bed

Dated 19BVVVVVVVT62 ....damn

He had underlined in BVVVVVVVT red ....son of a ****

Every sinBVVVVVVVTgle I love BVVVVVVVT you ....DAMN IT!!

I went to BVVVVVVVT BVVVVVVVT POP see him just today ....piece of shit PA

Oh BVVVVVVVT but I didn't see no tears BVVVVVVVT

All dressed BVVVVVVVT up to go away ....OW!

First time I'd POP seen him smile BVVVVVVVT in years BVVVVVVVT BVVVVVVVT ....f***

And it continued that way through the whole song. It happened on other songs too but the slow ones were killer! It HAD to be funny to watch!

That pisses me the **** off!!

Things That Piss Me The **** Off

By Sam Houston, 2011-01-20

Lots of things can happen and/or go wrong when playing live on stage (gigging). Since I've played regularly on stage for well over 20 years, I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that go on "behind the scenes". The average person has no idea what we musicians put ourselves through in order for them to be "entertained".

These will be sort of like the old "I hate it when that happens" scenario. You know, like when you fall off of a tall building and hang your eyelid on a nail on the way down....I hate it when that happens.

So I will periodically be adding a new installment. This will be the first of many.

So, when you first start out, you don't have a lot of stuff....or money....or knowledge....or sense. Way back when I first started gigging a lot, we just hauled our equipment in pick-ups....three pick-ups to be exact. Well when you haul equipment in a pick-up you don't want to get it messed up so you cover it with a tarp. We always covered our stuff with tarps. But, it never failed, especially on long trips, it would RAIN. Then we would always have to stop several times on the way to re-tie the tarps back down because they would always come loose. When you go to a gig, you always want to look half way decent, so we were always dressed up, our hair brushed just right, and wearing our best boots. But by the time we would get to the gig after having to get out in the rain several times, jack around with the tarps and equipment, and wade around in the mud, we looked like drowned rats or that we had just came from a mud wrestling contest.....and we were the wrestlers....and lost. It's not easy to get women to throw their underwear on stage at you when you look like that.

That pisses me the **** off!!

Site Slow Down Part II

By Admin, 2011-01-20

Our host has made some changes to the server and I think things are running better now. I noticed before when clicking on submit after leaving a review it would take awhile to add the comment. It is updating pretty quick for me now. Is anyone else seeing any slow downs?
