I added a new song (The Shy Orchid) using Chinese and Japanese instrumentation.

I also added a new video (Witches) which has a heavy metal scary theme about witches taking children away.

Hey gang I pulled the site back for now. I want to fix a few bugs and add some modifications in before going back to it 100%. It is close but there are just a few things that are bugging me about it.

Todd

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the new site layout. I am hoping to have it up and running by this weekend. Once it is up, I am sure there will be some bugs as well as features that we may want to add back in so do not be alarmed.

The new site was a long time coming and I think the 3rd or 4th change we have had. The technology changes and it is always a good idea to stay ahead of the curve. I know most of you upgraded from Windows 3.1 years ago and recently from XP to Windows 7. This is just a natural progression for us to try and provide feature rich content.

While some of us embrace change, many avoid change like the plague. I hope everyone gives it a chance. Like the previous layout, we made changes all the time and this will be no different.

Thanks for being a part of Mixposure!

Todd

Once again it's time for a Site Song Challenge. We've done SSTM and Holiday songs, even genre specific challenges so I thought it would be nice to try something different.

This site song challenge will be an Electric/Acoustic Collaboration Challenge. We've had some pretty lively discussions about what is acoustic and for the purposes of this challenge, it's any instrument or noise making item that is recorded via microphone. This could include vocals, banging sticks together or anything in between so have fun with it and be as creative as you can be. There is no genre so this is about as wide open to every artist on the site as it can be.

Each submission must include some acoustic recording, some electric or electronic recording and it MUST be a collaboration between at least two different artists. What's at stake...well of course there is bragging rights, but I figured we could sweeten the pot a little and offer a prize to the winners. The winning track will be featured as Song of The Week at the end of the contest. In addition, the winning artists will get a one hour feature of their music to run daily for two weeks on MixStream Radio. Make sure you select Site Song Challenge as the genre for your submission(s) and have a blast with this one. I can't wait to hear what all of you amazing musicians come up with for this Challenge!!

Thanks,

Maurice

I thought I would pass on some usefull information I have found while exploring you tube videos I came across some Videos called (Into the Lair) which are about professional recording techniques that have helped me a lot. There is a number of them on different things like adding or mixing audio and vocals, adding effects etc. You should just be able to type it in and it will come up. Very informative Thank you

Although they’ve displayed some serious success and found many fans to follow their shows, they’ve recently decided to follow their passion and spread their music outside the city limits. Their extreme passion for music is what allows them to pack up and go for it; their willingness to spread what they do for others to hear is their motivation for their unique sound and touching lyrics. Their sound incorporates many elements of the music from the alternative-rock genre while remaining completely original. Both poetic and down to earth, Southern Solstice has a knack for writing lyrics that will capture you on a deeper level than what you hear with most alternative-rock bands. You can hear many of their influences in their sound/lyric combination including Ray Lamontagne, Jason Mraz, Alice in Chains, Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Pink Floyd, Damien Rice, Mason Jennings, Jamie Cullum and Stone Temple Pilots, just to name a few. This is captivating music written and performed by real, down to earth musicians who care about sharing the soul and freedom of expression. Just listen.

Brandon Britton – Lead Vocals and Lead Guitar. Brandon is a former member of Louisville local band Signal Fading and has been playing music around Louisville for many years. He is the band’s driving force behind their recent decision to hit the road and spread their music.

Alan Beeler – Bass. Alan was also a former member of Signal Fading and although he is currently playing bass, he’s got an insane amount of talent as a guitarist if you’re lucky enough to hear him play.

Ricky Muzick – Drums. Ricky has played drums for numerous bands including Mungus, Heaven Hill and a Cleveland-based band, Worldly Descent. Watch him play and you’ll instantly tune into the passion he displays for both his instrument and Southern Solstice.
