for someone who has constantly got tunes going in my head 24/7 for the last god knows how many years the last few days ive had nothing ..which is no bad bad thing ..actually its been pretty cool ..im not a quitter but im also a heart on the sleeve type bod as well ..and ive found that by offloading my niggles ,,be it a blog ,text or actually conversing with another human ,,now thats rare these days ..it clears the path for the next road to take ...now your probably thinking ,,god its only been a few days and now hes back ..well a few days for me without touching music feels like months ...(see top line ) ..and no this is not some elaborate promotional crap ..quite frankly i couldnt give a toss about how many plays i get or chart systems or all that rubbish ,,this is about something that a major part of my setup ...vig hit the nail on the head ..as basically you all did ..so its you guys who have made me see sense and guided me back to where i want to be ...i do sometimes need and welcome that ..i do have these glitches occasionally and its usually the members of the site who have sorted me out and got me back on track ..so ill just once again say a big thanks to all who took it upon themselves to bother about one tiny little washer in the machine that is mixposure ..its a very cool place to be and your all really cool people ..thankyou ... ..ill end this here and just get back to what i like to do ...i think thats best

sie

From Wikipedia -

"A musician usually plays a musical instrument, especially (although not necessarily) as a profession. Musicians can be classified by their roles in performing music and writing music. It's also a person who makes music a profession, anyone (professional or not) who's skilled in making music or performing music creatively, or one who composes, conducts, or performs music (especially instrumental music).

Musicians can be of any music style not limited to classical, orchestral or choral, and musicians can have skills in many different styles outside of their professional experience. Examples of musicians' skills are the orchestration of music, improvisation, conducting, singing, composing, arranging, and/or being an instrumentalist."

Music is constantly evolving. Styles and genres have come, had their Hayday, and gone. There has been so much music created and recorded over the past century, it really is unfathomable.

Ok, so lets break down the definition here a bit:

"A musician usually plays a musical instrument, especially (although not necessarily) as a profession. "

We are well into the 21st century here, and the newest (ok, not so new) emerging musical instrument is the computer.

"Musicians can be classified by their roles in performing music and writing music. It's also a person who makes music a profession, anyone (professional or not) who's skilled in making music or performing music creatively, or one who composes, conducts, or performs music (especially instrumental music)."

By this definition, Live performing Djs and composing Djs are musicians.

"Musicians can be of any music style not limited to classical, orchestral or choral, and musicians can have skills in many different styles outside of their professional experience. Examples of musicians' skills are the orchestration of music, improvisation, conducting, singing, composing, arranging, and/or being an instrumentalist."

By this definition, Home studio enthusyists, or ANYONE who: orchestrates loops and samples of music in arrangment, and creates sounds electronically or otherwise for musical composition ARE real musicians.

I think its high time we all accept this. Traditional musicians that play traditional instruments and sing, have their talent and skillset. As do those who create music by any means necessary have their talent and skillset as well. There is not much difference between one who strums a string or blows on a reed, bangs on something, or presses a trigger button.

Granted, their are levels of musicianship; varying from beginners to the professional. That is not my point here though. I'm just tired of most all electronic media artists who dont play a keyboard or guitar or a 'traditional' instrument saying they are not "real musicians".

I will even go as far as saying my spouse Deb, who is most certainly tone deaf, and I forbid to hum around me, is a musician. She invents her own song in her head and it just comes out naturally. If there was only a way she could capture her ideas.......maybe someone will invent the mind link to the computer someday! Can you imagine creating the music exactly as you hear it in your head for all to hear?

I write this opinion from both sides of the isle. I started as a vocalist in high school, taught myself how to play the piano by ear, (Still can't really read music) and a little guitar too. I was in a couple really good bands when I was younger, ranging from TOP 40 bar bands playing 5 hours every night, to progressive rock bands opening for major names back in the 80s and 90's. After a period stepping away from music altogether, having no instruments to play for almost 8 years, I started learning about computer DAWs and samples and loops. I found I had a talent for creating loops and samples, and after putting them out for the public to have and use, I have found a whole new world of satisfaction! When I hear a composition someone used my loops in, its actually a better feeling to me then creating a whole song of my own. The 'collab' aspect of hearing what someone else creates by the inspiration they get from a little piece of melody or sound I created is mind blowing and tickles me inside to no end.

So, if you create something that sounds good to you, and hopefully to someone else too.....no matter how you made it.....you are a "Real Musician"

like anyones bothered ....i need something new ,something different ,,name change all that rubbish ..not feeling very musical at all at the min so ive wiped the slate clean so i can go away and basically just chill for a bit .... thats about it really sorry !

i need to verify a few things on here ...im not a musician in the real sense as i see it ...ie to pick up an instrument and imediately interact with it musically ...im a producer :D i do have a bit of musical talent but no where near the amazing people ive met and heard on here ..ok thats out of the way ...also im influenced by a diverse array of people from different backgrounds of music and so it sort of rubs off in my tracks ...also i dont stick to what is regarded as the norm in any aspect of music ..so it is wth this tune im afraid ...not everyone will like it ..hell id be amazed if any one listens to this ..its nearly 10 mins long ..it has a sort of story to it ,,i based it on the film the shining ..theres footsteps used as a gateway to the different musical "rooms" ..it has a hell of a lot of sounds in it ..something i like to have in a tune ..its probably why i turned to synths and samplers and not the guitar ...also as this site is from what i can gather and have observed a mainly acoustic/electric rocky sort of place ..im pretty chuffed to be a part of it and be accepted into it the way i am of which im truly honoured and grateful i also must appologise as well for some of the tracks i put up here ..some are well just off the chain a bit ..ive got one tune which i recorded at 909 bpm last 1min 15 seconds ..also on which i titled melt your brain and consists of nothing but noise ..christ dont i waffle alot for that im also very sorry ..anyways ive uploaded this track ..have a listen see what you think ..who knows perhaps maybe it could influence you to branch out a bit ,,you never know ...enjoy

sie(elektronz/flugelhamster/elek/me)

:)

I have been working on music non stop and getting songs ready for mixing. In the process of doing so I did something different this time around with the sounds. I also have been taking my time with the music. Things are moving along great and the music is sounding excellent. I am very happy to be working with Jim on the project and I thank him for allowing me to do things with his music. Scott Moricle is also working with us. He has vocal work to do along with other projects in the works. I thank Scott for allowing me to steal some of his synths too, lol.

I am still working on driving Jim sane

I have not been on here to review as much as I would like to. So in the near future I will be reviewing more. I do apologize for that.
It was determined that Mike Kohlgraf would be our July Mix Artist of the Month! Mike has been on Mixposure for some time and was our first DJ here when he brought his show "Saturday Night Rocks" over to to this site. Mike has been a staple in not only Mixposure but a few other sites back in the day and has been a huge supporter of artist all over the internet. He is also a pretty solid musician in his own right!

Mike thanks for being here over the last 4 years! You have truly made this site shine.

Todd

Biography

Originally from Germany, residing in the USA since 1986, I used to be in bands for years. After a long break, I took up writieng music again. and consider myself a studio musician, writing, recording and producing my own material.

I work with other artists on collaborations, namely Christopher Marting Hansen, Jim Miller and many others, such as Rick Kresiak and his wife, Mack & Dave Sanders.. One great collaboration with Maria Daines as well and hopefully, we can do it again some day. I' play guitars and keyboards.

My creations are all over the genres (Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, New Age, Electronica, etc), so I settled for Crossover as the main Genre. A bit of a World musician, you might say. Most of my material is on the smooth side. Hope, you enjoy some of it and do not be afraid to leave a comment. We artists are suckers for those, good or bad, doesn't matter (we like the good ones best, though). Thanks for visiting my new home here at Mixposure!

The first few lines of this song do say it all…”can’t speak, can’t sleep, can’t eat….” Well I’m sure we all go through this at some point, but I have never experienced such energy on such an immense and prolonged scale. This song speaks of dealing with that energy, and a knowing that something is lurking on the horizon?

On a musical note, I’d like the listener to look out for the tasty beats that were created using “Propellorheads — Reason” program (just love it) and also some new guitar sounds were conjured up with the help of “Guitar Rig”.

hooyoosay's "My obsession": vintage pop-rock with a contemporary dance-feel
By hooyoosay, 2012-07-01

Mainstream indie-dance-pop seventies-rock with a post-punk twist: hooyoosay's new single "My obsession" cannot easily be labeled with a simple one-word tag.

Their rendition of the song brings a fresh and innovative, catchy and intriguing approach to a rather obscure 1967 Rolling Stones track.

Contrary to the coarse and roaring Rolling Stones signature original, hooyoosay's whispery and sensual lead vocal interprets the song lyrics in such a way that a slightly humorous but definitely light-hearted undertone is added.

The overall sound is reminiscent of late seventies rock, a good dose of Ian Dury-like characteristics being injected.

At the same time the hypnotic drum beats give the track enough of a contemporary dance-feel to possibly also appeal to listeners of Rihanna, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and the likes.

Still the whole package breathes a gentle softness, clearing it from the fatiguing impact that some stellar productions occasionally might impose.

For the so-called b-side, hooyoosay chose to record Allen Toussaint's "Pain in my heart" in a modest arrangement, as an intimate, melancholic, acoustic jazzy blues ballad.

If you'd have missed to notice their full album "In dekay" before, this new single, combining the verve of "My obsession" and the gloominess of "Pain in my heart", makes for a compelling introduction to hooyoosay.
