Who`s to say what is RIGHT and what is WRONG?

I wrote this as a response to what Vesa had written on his blog but after giving it a little more thought I wondered if any of you feel the same about the music we create and decided to post up a blog to find out..

I think music should sound how the CREATOR of it intended it to sound...If you`ve achieved that then you`ve achieved what you set out to do..It does`nt really matter if the listeners hear it your way or not, as long as you know you`ve achieved what you set out to do and that YOU know it sounds the way it was intended to sound, then all`s well..:-) I don`t think anyone should change the music they create because a few people who listen feel it should be different..I don`t think any of us would ask a painter to change a part of the picture he`d just painted because we don`t like the colour he`s used for the sky etc....Those artists/musicians wearing "L" plates are excluded of course....:-)They need the guidance of those further on down the road..:-)

Just my few pennies worth..:-)

Peace n love Mags :-)

Dear Mix listeners, please come and listen to the latest song. I have just posted Breathe Back In, which is my latest collaboration with two really amazing musicians on Mix. I would like to thank them both for bringing these words to life in such a beautiful and stylish way. I am so happy that they loved these lyrics enough to give them life, and I could not have asked for kinder and more dedicated musicians. I thank them from my heart! Maybe you would all like to have a guess, see if you know who they could be? Melsi

Wasteland

By IDIOM, 2008-10-01
Wasteland

A lot of my old music isn't around anymore, partially because it sucked, secondly I gave up trying to accomplish single handed what a team did better. Now what you probably wont know is that once upon a time I did land at the old Mix from a very brief spell as a singer songwriter, but my primary home was on Unsigned Band Web where I had a heck of a lot of memories. Recently I thought "why the hell not" and stuck up "Home Leaving" (recently being 11 hrs 30 minutes ago according to the time frame they have listed next to new songs.) 2 plays one download-not bad. Anyway sidetracking here.

I thought wouldn't it be cool if I let you all listen to what I used to do, and thankfully I don't have to sit there with ya while you listen lol, I'd probably drop dead through embarassment! First here's the lyrics, and my artist name was Will Bailey named after me and my son. Although I first went under Don Brooks, then Seeking Savannah.

WASTELAND

(c)willbailey2005

There's a blood red moon risin'
As the vampires come out to play
Murderers and thieves rise from their beds
Deep in their hideaways
The distant beast of thunder
Calls it's hungry roar
Tonight there's gonna be a death ballet
Like you never seen before

Livin' it up in the wasteland
Livin' it up in the wasteland, baby
Livin' it up in the wasteland
We may escape with our lives

The hotrods lie in waiting
For their riders praying in the dust
There's a hunger and fear
That turns to angry lust

BRIDGE

And a million miles away there's people
In their fancy steel built homes
Who will pass away with thier family
Out here you die alone

The girls are hitchin' up their skirts
Hopin' to be caught
They're just cattle in the market ring
Ready to be sold and bought

Livin' it up in the wasteland
Livin' it up in the wasteland, baby
Livin' it up in the wasteland
We may escape with our lives

and here's the link to paste into the browser:

http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2231/

oh and there's a second track there called Dead Of The Night, lyrics below:

DEAD OF THE NIGHT
©willbailey2005

In a quiet chapter of nowhere
A lonely shadow stands
Chokin' on a cigarette
Held by aging hands
In his mind flows memories
Of people he can't fight
Hopin' to seal his own fate
In the dead of the night

Tramps on the corner
Burn trash in white hot metal
Staring lost and hurt
Into their man made hell
Burnin' embers their lives
Drifting upward to the sky
Hopin' to save their souls
In the dead of the night

Young girl earnin' money
By sellin' her sacred temple
The job's night work
But the money plentyful
Deep down she's a check out girl
Or maybe a a lovin' wife
But dreams don't exist
In the dead of the night

And all over this world people cry
As what they hope for fades away

It all turns to dust
In the dead of the night
It all turns to hell
In the dead of the night

Give another listen: It's all brothers in this concept

1.....4-5 Jam in G

1.....4-5 Jam in G

A year or so ago, I had the pleasure of recording some 'things' with a young, home town guitar player named 'Adam Boomer' . I had a drum track we starting jammin' too..... not to refined just jammin' . I later went back and added the bass and horn tracks,(Roland Fantom X keyboard) hoping to keep the jam vibe. I think it has a jazzy-funk, with a bit of big band vibe to it. I hope you enjoy.........:-)

cheers,
Larry T

New Collab with KED - Lookin' At Ya

By selftort, 2008-09-30

KED and I have been threatening to do a collab together for some time now. I had started working on an instrumental track called "Lookin' At Ya" in about 2006 and had recorded the drums, bass, pianos and organ tracks, trying to come up with a lead guitar that I was happy with. It had been consigned to the "to do sometime later" list, but then I decided to take KED up on his kind offer to collab with me.

Here's the finished result. KED has done a great job on guitar on this and I'm really happy with the result.

Lead Guitar: KED

Synth, organ, elec piano: Self Tort

Drums, bass programming: Self Tort and Stewart Havill
