It looks like two of my songs are going to be on WWOZ radio in New Orleans very soon, possibly this Wednesday. A person who is a fan of my music page on Facebook turns out to be a DJ on the radio station and wants to play a couple of my songs on his show. The show is on Wednesdays from 2:00-4:00 in the afternoon. They don't archive their broadcasts, so I'll have to do my best to listen to the whole thing from work which will be tough, but I'm sure going to try.

More details coming as soon as I get them. This could be a VERY cool thing...

new to Mixposure anyway....

I uploaded a new song called Grandmas Blackberry Wine.

I have hesitated to upload this song. It is so far from the grasp of most people simply because the subject matter is truly all out country. However, it is a very true song.

My Grandma used to make blackberry wine. She would go out in the woods, pick the blackberries herself, bring them home, and make the most awesome tasting wine ever in the history of homemade wine. But, you had to be careful with it because it would sneak up on you quick.

The song explains how Grandma didn't have indoor plumbing....true. How we used to have to use the outhouse....true. How she had a rocked in spring about 200 yards out in the woods to bathe in....true. How she made the best homemade blackberry wine ever....true. And, how I miss those fun country times....true.

There's a "hill" (more like a mountain) that's called "Higg's Hill". Back when my mother was a kid there was a store on top of the hill called "Higg's". At the bottom of Higg's Hill, my aunt and uncle used to have a beer joint called The Rawhide. And yes, it was every bit as rough as it sounds. But, as long as you were part of our family you had nothing to worry about. I loved to go play pool and eat beef jerky there. Very cool!

Poison Willie was a true character when I was growing up. If there was a fight or any other trouble, 'ol Poison was probably involved. One day he showed up at my aunts bar drunk (or something) as he could be. He was looking for somebody in our family. Don't remember who (my family is a little....uhhhh.........wild....at times). He had a shotgun that had the butt broken off. I don't think he could've even shot it but he was sure pissed off. One of the men from inside went out and wrestled it away from him and told him to get on down the road.

Anyway, I just thought I'd explain a little of what the song is about. I also put this in the song info.

This is kind of one of those must listen to musicians. Steve Carter posted some tunes of he and a few others jamming with Willie Nelson on vocals. I listened to the two songs posted and was blown away. I just wanted to thank Steve for sharing these tunes. To say their is some musical skill in that room is an understatement.

Todd

Hi all! Do check out my article on common sense saving while producing, promoting, and packaging music online. It is a brief, basic summary of sorts that may be helpful to you based on my observations in the five years that I have been promoting music online.

http://www.bukisa.com/people/ken_myers

I hate the thought of even bringing up reviews but I was asked about this again so I thought I would make the change for those interested.

So members have said Mixposure is very kind on reviews when they were really looking for critical reviews. To try and resolve this issue, we have come up with the following solution. When creating a song, you will see a field called Review Feedback Type. There will be 3 entries in the drop down Normal, Constructive and Critical. If you are fine with the normal Mixposure Review Process, leave the default value of normal. If you choose any of the other three options, on the review form an image will appear with the review type requested. Not sure if we need all these values? Thoughts?

Now the one thing I will say is that if you request a Critical Review, please do not expect roses and a card. Mixposure has many professional musicians and if requested, they can and will critique a song to your expectations. If you do not like a review however, please just delete it. Sending a message to the reviewer telling them they do not know what they are talking about means you have chosen the wrong type of review feedback to receive.

Now the good thing about this is that if you are a beginning musician, you probably do not want to put down Critical for your review type. You might want to put down Kind until you work on your skills!

Please feel free to comment!
