'Reality' Doesn't Bite After All

By CrybKeeper, 2010-11-10

Just got my advance copy of Woolgather bands second CD, titled Programmes ll - The Reality Principle.

Casey and the guys have went with a little different sound on some of the new songs. Don't let that worry you though; the songs simply have more energy, with a clear and recognizable Woolgather sound. It's immediately obvious, the guys have grown musically and spiritually, giving Woolgather a more mature and even more enjoyable sound. The new album will be available to the public on November 30, 2010, so save your dollars and euros Woolgather fans, because this one is essential, a must have CD in any progressive rock, music collection.

Programmes ll contains 7 tracks in total, ranging from 3 minutes to 9 minutes in length. I will be reviewing just a few here, so as not to spoil the whole experience for everyone reading this. Want you to be pleasantly surprised, as I am sure you will be.

The Kite, has a slightly faster rhythm than what we fans are used to on Programmes l, with hauntingly beautiful vocals, thoughtful lyrics and sensational keyboards. Uh-hm, these guys know how to arrange music, with cymbals at the correct spots and something I haven't heard from Woolgather before - accompanying, growling vox, but they have done a superb job with this, keeping it suttle and well placed, heard but not overpowering. Over all, I would rate The Kite a near perfect track, giving it a 9.6 of 10. This one is pre-released as a single. You can hear it in full on My Space, at this link.

The King's Ransom, will take you back somewhat, to that signature Woolgather sound we all know and love, but with a slightly heavier rhythm guitar and some really cool backing vox, in my opinion. This track is another gem out of the jewelry box everyone. I will be playing this one until my hard drive melts! 9.3 of 10.

Pre-Flight Candidacy is an intro to The Kite and an instrumental song on Programmes ll and it's a perfect mood for a perfect album. It leaves me wanting more and already waiting in anticipation for a Fourth CD from Woolgather. This starts with a nice intro, that may remind you ever so slightly, of Ghost Riders In The Sky, by Marty Robbins, covered later, by Johnny Cash and also The Outlaws. However, Pre-Flight smoothly morphs into something very new and unique, with some really clever instrumental work going on, with chimes, walking cymbals, prancing piano and a familair rhythm and bass. 9.1 of 10.

Over all album rating - 9 of 10. A must have CD!

Woolgather are:
Smooth Operator, Casey Tipton - lead vocals/guitar
Good Vibrations, Eric Stephens - Bass
The Diamond Cutter, Matthew Eads - Drums

Read more about Programmes l & ll in Woolgathers My Space Blog.
Get yourself a nifty T-shirt from Woolgathers official website.

Well, both my songs were played on WWOZ yesterday during the "Sittin' At The Crossroads" show hosted by Big D. It went great. He played one song during each hour of his show. I called him during the second song and thanked him for giving me this opportunity. He was a very nice and gracious man who I look forward to talking to again someday. He did mention that I called on air after the song was done, and also mentioned that he would probably be playing those songs again in the coming weeks. All in all it was an awesome experience and I'm very happy about it.

If anyone was able to hear the songs you can e-mail the station and leave them feedback to tell them what you thought about my song or any other song that was played.

Big thanks to anyone who was able to listen and took the time to check it out. Please let me know what you thought of the songs if you did listen to them.

ORCHESTRIA - BILBOZO & PLANETJAZZBASS

ORCHESTRIA - BILBOZO & PLANETJAZZBASS

I had the honor and pleasure to do another song with the "Wonder from Down Under" PlanetJazzBass. I love his fusion based playing and it was begging to play on this orchestrial Fusion Track. This is a Blend of Symphonic, Fusion and Rock. Some experimentation made this one real fun. You get new software VSTi's and you feel like a kid in a candy store! Thanks for listening and comments always welcome. - Bilbozo

http://www2.mixposure.com/Bilbozo/song_focus_21017.php

True Blue Cowboy (country rock/cross over)

By Farrell Jackson, 2010-11-08
True Blue Cowboy (country rock/cross over)

Farrell Jackson - songwriter, all vocals, bass, and guitars.

Alex Jiminez - Congas

Kurt Huhn - drums

This was my first attempt at writing a country rock/crossover song. I wrote and recorded this song in 1998 but haven't posted it at Mixposure because there hasn't been much of an audience for this style of music here. That is until now due to kooder's new show called Twang Is The Thang. If you haven't checked the show out yet you should. It's a different listening experience from the normal...that is if you like a little twang in your ears.....but the music is also diverse.

I hope you enjoy my True Blue Cowboy!

Farrell Jackson

Tomorrow is the day!!!! Two of my songs will be on WWOZ radio tomorrow afternoon!

I'm sending the two song files to the DJ tonight and he said that he will play them on his show tomorrow afternoon.

The radio show is from 2:00-4:00 PM every Wednesday and is called "Blues and R&B: Sittin' at the Crossroads with Big D". You can listen to the show live on the website.

Here is address to the website... http://www.wwoz.org/

On the WWOZ home page you can see a player that will allow you to listen to the live broadcasts.

Hopefully some of you will be able to check out the show online thru the website. They do not archive the broadcasts yet, so there's no way to listen to the show later if you don't catch it live. I have checked out the playlist of some of his previous shows and he plays some big name blues artists, so my songs could be in very good company on the show. I don't know if this could be a big push for my music or not...all I know is that a door has been opened for me and I'm walking thru it.

I'll be taking tomorrow afternoon off from work to be home and listen to the whole show and may even call in to thank the DJ after my songs are played. Who knows...maybe he'll put me on the air?

I am still very humbled and honored to have the opportunity for my music to reach a whole new audience. I just hope that people will like the songs. Who knows what can or will happen after the songs are on the air?

Thanks again to all of you who support me with my music...

The DJ's will begin uploading their shows over the next few weeks so we should have a good amount of shows and interviews available. Shortly we will get these added to iTunes PodCast so you can grab them from there also. Big Kudos to Joseph Rodriguez for suggesting this!

Video Players

By Admin, 2010-11-06

Just wanted to let everyone know we updated the video players yesterday. I have not fully tested the embed functions for social networking sites but I will say Facebook will be ready in a few days I hope. Right now when you add it to Facebook it will just post a link back to the site for your video. Once Facebook approves our application, the video will embed on the page like YouTube does. That is the hope anyway lol.

I am also testing the new review module for Products. I like it! Hopefully we can get it ready this week.

Have a great day everyone!!

Dazed
