It Was A Trip.

This is a live version that I performed unplugged at a benefit concert to help aid the victims of the Katrina Hurricane that devastated New Orleans a few years ago. Just me, my harmonica, and acoustic guitar. I had lost this version in a computer crash but thankfully Mike Kohlgraf had it in his MP3 files. I asked and he sent it to me. Thanks Mike K!

I hadn't heard it in a long while so I thought I would post it up for those that like live recordings. I also have the studio version on my page.

Here's a little history on the songs origin: I wrote and recorded the song around 2000 but I had carried this lyrical thought since 1969. The true story, in short, is about a rock concert I attended in 1969. A kid I knew from school was shot and killed about 20 yards in front of me. He was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. He was caught in the crossfire of rival motorcycle gangs and took a fatal shot to the head. It was supposed to be a fun day but it turned very dark quickly. So I did what story telling songwriters do, I captured that dark day in a song about the event.

Farrell Jackson

If you're going to tell a story, you'll probably have to set it up..as in, "it was a dark and stormy night." Ryan Michael Galloway explains how he did it.
just got to tell you about this jam..my partner prefered to be anonymous

but i learned so much.....the music we make "is the" influence........how he effects me and how i affect him as we struggle to follow each other...the out come is not a note that's great but an influence a living testamony of compliment, a joint (harmonious) whole that rings in your ear........something human that has become an object (actually a word that has become an an object)

and on and on we "talked" (played) throughout this song. I don't think musicians use the word talk too much.....it's the only word that explains musical reciprication (from me to you , from you to me) I think using that word more often will actually make you a better musician because you might forget too recipricate.........You know they say "NO egos" is that what their trying to say?

SOOOOOOOO.......live music talks....only live music talks! when you record also i suggest that you try not to mix it cause you'll loose what you were saying...actually you will loose what you were saying anyway because the music is not all around (condenser mic)

my friends!!!thank you for listening once again...and i want you to listen to this new collab INFLUENCES

Who should be the October Artist of the Month? After tossing around RWK or Dazed, just kidding, we decided that it should be Paul Reed Smith. As you can see from our pictures and videos, we had a great time. We thought it was only fair we return the favor. So the October Artist of the Month is none other than Paul Reed Smith! Thanks for a great time in Maryland!
