Prince - A Personal Tribute

By undenleslie, 2019-05-19

I still remember and think about Prince often. It's a weird void that you just learn to live with when your heroes die. Even in his later album and songs, which I didn't listen to often, I always looked forward to seeing what he was gonna do next. It's always special when an artist that you like reaches that personal level of loyalty that you will always follow them, no matter what artistic direction they go in. It was that way with Bowie. It's that way with Beck and Jill Scott. And it was definitely that way with Prince.

I always rooted for Prince to make a big comeback. I think a lot of people did. He was a hero and idol to many. And he was disliked by many. He wrote a lot of people's favorite music. He wrote a lot of music that wasn't people's favorite. He was an enigma and iconic in a way that few artists can be. He was awkward. He was bold. He wrote a lot of experimental, cheesy songs, and put them out there in the world, and then moved on to the next project. He helped a lot of people like me be ok with being courageous enough to try with their own music and art, and be experimental, cheesy, etc., and then move on.

He was a really diverse and underrated songwriter. He wrote 'I Wanna Be Your Lover' and 'Let's Go Crazy' and 'Musicology'. He wrote good, radio friendly songs that will be around for a long time like 'Kiss', 'Little Red Corvette', and 'Raspberry Beret'. He wrote some great, memorable lyrics like 'Darling Nikki', and some bad, forgettable lyrics like 'My Name is Prince'. He wrote 'When Doves Cry' which opened a lot of people's eyes, like myself. And his guitar solos were really, really special like on 'Joy In Repetition'.

His death came as a shock. No one was ready for it. It was a reminder that even though we live our routine and mostly predictable lives every day for years and years, it's still unpredictable and what seems important and crucial to get done today may not be tomorrow.

So pick a favorite song by one of your favorite artist today, and enjoy it for all that it is. I'm picking "Condition Of The Heart" by Prince. He was bold, fearless, and fallible. He was Prince. 0(+>

Onward and Upward!

By MichaelW, 2019-05-14

With Phillip firmly in and doing a great job (5 songs with vocals recorded so far!), we are sifting through tunes to see if there are any with lyrics we want to keep and let Phillip put his stamp on. We are also encouraging him to bring us any lyrics and/or song ideas and see if we can marry those lyrics to previously written music or to see if new songs are generated.

Outlaw came by and dropped his bassline into Black Widow Lover in one take, no overdubs... what a pro! It is the second time he has dropped by and it was a blast as always. Looking forward to the reawakening friendship this opportunity presents.

God bless you all!

A Weekend groove THANG!

By rscain, 2019-04-26
A Weekend groove THANG!

This is just a lazy groove thing perfect for an early summer weekend!!!!

50:1 Gas To Oil

This was inspired by a Jeff Beck tune called "Big Block".

I once heard that originality is a result of people unsuccessfully trying to imitate their influences.......

Hey! I'm an original!! wink-1

I NEED YOUR EARS!!

I NEED YOUR HELP!!This is a song that a friend of mine and I wrote. It's our first collaboration and we'd like your opinion. This is actually a rough mix with a first vocal take but you'll get the idea.

I'm Back!

By Mark Neuhart, 2019-04-14
I'm Back!

Well how the heck are ya?

It's been a while since I have been here. I have great expectations for so many who i have met here. When i first to Mixposure I was asked to do a radio show The Mark Neuhart Show™ which had been changed from The Austin Stone LIVE Variety Show which I used to do on thebluescorneradio which is no longer available. R.I.P. Joe Cupp (Owner)
I liked that I could play multiple genres, and that is was available Globally since I was  communicating With Carl and Archie in France and George in Australia and able to share their music with all of you ... Pretty cool!
I worked with Lakehouse Records to get Autographed CDs from the Artists. Like Buster Cousins , Ashelyn Summers (Chimed in from Japan) Joe Survival Caruso ( Which is kind off why I am doing this blog, he has a new CD out!)
I brought them on the chat windows and I think it was a  lot of fun and helpful...
But my budget was hurting this led to that and I was suddenly gone.
Hey Sizit Happens right? and I continue on my mission... Now things have evolved in such a good way and it brings back memories of all of you that I worked with and shared. Sos a quick update!
In the meantime many things have been going on and I hope top bring some of you up to date on:

~TMNS™      The Mark Neuhart Show    -feat. 'HOST'  - Mark Neuhart

~ PlayAM777Promotions™   Mark Neuhart  -C.E.O. and Founder

working with:

~ MindRAGEmusic © Partners Louie Nunziato and Mark Neuhart Professional Music Recording Studio

and now...

~ Break the Chain Films © -Mark Neuhart  -Music Producer/Consultant

~ IndieStream.tv   Mark Neuhart  -Data Analyst

So I am also the Director on a new Platform.  A combo of Netflix/Youtube /Hulu

Free for the viewers and you may dig a lot of the old movies as well as Independent films you will see no where else!

~If you have a video you would like to see on IndieStream.tv?

Run it by me... If I like it the next day it will be up for you to share and promote!

So there is a brief synopsis of the program...
A #Markforce1 Project

P.S. This should clear up any questions about what I am doing... LOL
I do all this with the help of The Austin Stone Players™ and about 30 people who are the core of:
#Markforce1
