For Gene Smith aka Daddy Rabbit who loved his Breedlove.
I am like a tree,
I start as a seed with not an inkling of what the sun appears to be or the passage of time. But I do know in that kernel that lies at my core that there is something that I must strive for, something I MUST reach.
Through soil, brick, concrete it doesn't matter I will find a way to reach it and when I do it's golden rays empower me with a newfound energy. I burst forth, uncurl my fronds and grow toward the light that calls me.
I stand tall and grow with each passing of the seasons, I weather storms learning when to stand strong and when to bend with the wind. I stand in the forest for a century and watch some of my brothers and sisters fall and some flourish. Then I fall...
The final fall, broken into pieces, my heartwood laid bare to the world. But then I feel hands lovingly touching the brokens pieces, a soft touch sanding the rough edges, making gentle cuts and I realize that my sacrifice will give many shelter and warmth where needed, provide a safe place for a child to sleep, and make music that touches many hearts and souls for centuries to come.
And it all was because of a humble carpenter and his Father.
I am like a tree.
It is with great sadness I announce the passing of Gene Smith also known as DaddyRabbit . Gene was one of my favorite DJ's on Mix simply because we had the same musical taste. Gene liked high energy rock and constantly scoured Mixposure to find artists that fit that style. Aside from being a dj on Mixposure, Gene was also a friend that helped me run Mixposure. He was a great resource for me to lean on when I had site concerns.
I guess when you run a music site for as long as Mixposure has been around, this happens but it is something that I will never get used to. We have lost some great musicians and friends over the years and it is a constant reminder of how short life is. This is why I tell people do not settle in life. You only get one chance in this world so make it count.
Thanks for being a friend Gene. You will be missed.
Todd
It's that time again.

It's a real bummer to hear of Marty Balin's passing at 76 years old..........The Jefferson Airplane, Marty and the S.F. music scene were very influential on my early musical development. I still listen to Surrealistic Pillow to this day. I saw them in concert at The Fillmore West in the 70's. Marty and the band definitely lived by the rock mantra of "Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'n Roll". RIP in the great psychedelic sky Marty..........
The memory of Jefferson Airplane in concert was the catalyst for my song San Francisco Daze. Here's one for you...RIP Marty.

I have uploaded a remix of my song "Trip For Biscuits". I redid the vocals after some folks suggested they weren't up enough in the mix. I also tweaked a few other things and generally cleaned it up, and added about 30 seconds to the end (just because I like the groove, heh).
In any event, I hope you enjoy it and thanks to everyone who has listened and commented!
I love everything to do with Music.
I love to listen, play, create and dance to music. – Music makes me feel happy, sad, passionate, angry and strong. It will take me back through my past to people I have loved or places I have been. It will connect me to people from all around the world. To friends as well as the icons of music.
Why is it so powerful, and where does this all come from?
So I was thinking....about the very first music we all hear. As we lie in our Mother’s womb, we hear her heartbeat and we are gently rocked to her music - the rhythm of her life………………………Yes we hear music before we are even born.
Maybe, just maybe, music is that connection with the very miracle of life itself. https://youtu.be/KDyKjBXg3nM
