Paul is obviously well known for his amazing guitars but Paul also happens to be a fantastic musician in his own right. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">From his bio...</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Paul Reed Smith (founder of PRS Guitars) and Derek St Holmes (former guitarist for Ted Nugent) spent two years writing these songs with Mike Ault and, Gary and Greg Grainger contributing. The CD is centered around Derek's voice, the powerful Grainger Brother's rythym section and Michael and Paul's guitar teamwork. Derek has an international reputation for being one of the best voices in rock. Basic tracks were recorded live at the Mechanic Theatre in Baltimore and mixed at Paul’s studio and mastered by Bob Ludwig, owner of Gateway Mastering.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Paul Reed Smith is known as a guitar maker and leader of PRS Guitars. What is not commonly known is that Paul is a musician, songwriter and studio owner. Throughout his journey to find the ultimate tone in his guitars, a large number of extraordinary musicians have gravitated to playing music with him. In the beginning, this was for national music trade and guitar shows, music stores, guitar clinics and PRS Guitar promotional events. The goal was to sell guitars and let people know the head of the company could play. All the people joining him were professional musicians, but Paul doesn't consider himself a pro musician. <p><span style="font-size: small;">It Was A Trip. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: small;">This is a live version that I performed unplugged at a benefit concert to help aid the victims of the Katrina Hurricane that devastated New Orleans a few years ago. Just me, my harmonica, and acoustic guitar. I had lost this version in a computer crash but thankfully Mike Kohlgraf had it in his MP3 files. I asked and he sent it to me. Thanks Mike K! </span></p><p><span style="font-size: small;">I hadn't heard it in a long while so I thought I would post it up for those that like live recordings. I also have the studio version on my page.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: small;">Here's a little history on the songs origin: I wrote and recorded the song around 2000 but I had carried this lyrical thought since 1969. The true story, in short, is about a rock concert I attended in 1969. A kid I knew from school was shot and killed about 20 yards in front of me. He was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time. He was caught in the crossfire of rival motorcycle gangs and took a fatal shot to the head. It was supposed to be a fun day but it turned very dark quickly. So I did what story telling songwriters do, I captured that dark day in a song about the event.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: small;">Farrell Jackson</span></p><p> </p>
