I Watched The Sun Come Up Today
©2010 Brian Futch
I watched the sun come up today,
Felt like I had to pray,
Thanked God for the blessings in my life,
Thought about the world I’m living in,
About how fortunate I have been,
Six kids and a faithful, loving wife,
There are those who’ll never know,
What it’s like to have a home,
Where love’s like a velvet robe,
Keeps you safe and cozy,
I watched the sun come up today,
I felt its kiss upon my face,
Bathed in the moment for awhile,
I soaked up the sounds of spring,
Paid attention to the little things,
The little things that make this life worthwhile,
There are those who’ll never know,
What it’s like to smell a rose,
Or hear a river as it flows,
And feel the mud between their toes,
I watched the sun come up today,
Solo
There are those who’ll never know,
What its like to have the hope,
Where freedom is a life rope,
That keeps the spirit glowing,
Brian, one of the most inspirational songs I have heard in quite awhile.
Great song Brian, really love this one. Excellent delivery.

Hey Brian!
Always good to hear new music from you. Your songwriting skills have always amazed me. Great vocals on here and well written lyrics.
Good seeing you Brian!
This is a sweet composition. You gave it soul and some fantastic instrumentation. Lovely song
Excellent minimal production recording Brian with the vocals and words taking the spotlight. The subtle strings and piano were great support for the feeling this song portrays "I watched the sun come up today". It's kind of cool to see a few country type songs popping up lately. Heck I might have to load one of mine up, lol!
Nice one!
