Determined and passionate singer/songwriter Ilia Darlin from Piraeus, an urban area of Athens stands among them. Ilia's upheaval in the music scene has cast a new light on southern Europe as a breeding ground of pop music enthusiasts. Having travelled all over the world seeking references and inspiration, Ilia decided to drop anchor in London for a few years, where she worked with a number of writers and producers and refined her performance skills. Though her attachment towards her roots and origins eventually eclipsed, it dawned on her that she felt a need to tell a story through the filter of her native land, indubitably less idyllic yet sentimentally authentic and powerfully evocative. </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Her first music video under EMI "Hit me", recorded in New York with producer Billy Mann is a powerful flow of images drawing on the Mediterranean subculture, with its bad teenage bikers, gaudy cemeteries and sex hotels. The title alone, one might assume, conveys a sharp message that strives to veer off from fixed aesthetics and contemporary musical frameworks, hailing from Greece to the rest of the world. </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Her second single "Even when I lose" is set to be released in conjunction with the Greek elections in June 2012.
