I am strangely ill from terrifying events, most of them never happened

Accumulated yesterdays and fearful tomorrows, leave my will crushed and blackened

There is a part of my life that I have always denied, but I can no longer hide my shadow side

If I tell you the truth, would you leave, would you cry, or could you accept the good and bad inside

When I’m tearful or mad, and ashamed that I’ve lied, then you are seeing right into my shadow side

Senseless worry, denial of the now, habitual resistance mode 

What I know as me, is not me, completely lost and out in the cold

There is a part of my life that I have always denied, but I can no longer hide my shadow side

I want to be whole, you know that I’ve tried, but I have to get past my fear and my pride

There is a choice to be made, when light and darkness collide, to either hold out my hand or show my shadow side

There is an unconscious program running all of the time, contradicting every thought

Of the artificial story that I’m telling myself, thinking that I’m cool when I’m not

When I push it way down, or try to sweep it aside, it always comes back and with a vengeance sometimes

My story’s been told, and it feels like a lie, because I left out the part with my shadow side

You have one too, you conquer and you divide, and this can only be done by your shadow side
