I Think I'll Write a Manifesto

Sitting in the corner, scribbling on a page
Ink is dripping wisdom, or maybe just my rage
The moon’s a crooked lawyer, and the sun’s a neon haze

I’ll write a manifesto, lay the world out bare
Circus in my pocket and confetti in my hair
The truth’s a paper tiger, and it don’t even care

I’ll call out all the preachers, the bankers, and the kings
Build a house of contradictions, tied with puppet strings
The choir’s singing nothing, but how loud it rings 
Oh what joy it brings

There’s a snake on the ladder, and a wolf on the floor
They’re both preachin’ salvation while they lock the exit door
I’m laughing at the madness, but it cuts me to the core

The train is off the tracks now, it’s barreling through the blue
With a thousand broken mirrors all reflecting me and you
The past is on the ticket, but the future's here
And man it's overdue

So I think I’ll write a manifesto, carve it into stone
With a feather from an angel, and a blade from the unknown
This world’s a crooked melody, but it’s mine to call my own
