This composition was different from all before it in the manner that all the major parts--the skeletal components, if you will--were composed mentally while I was at work. The main theme kept coming to my mind over the course of a few weeks. Recognizing it fit into a harmonic minor scale with an additional flattened 5th, I began to think of some simple things that could be done with the scale. By the time I bothered to do any programming or arranging, I had 4 of its major musical concepts floating around in my head. Some were things I could actually hum; one was a visual combimation of notes I could imagine being played on the guitar, not knowing exactly how it would sound with the layers being played all at once. Finally, I began to work on my music. As I dug through my instrument samples, I was hoping to find a good theremin sound. Alas, I settled for a synthetic whistling sound, similar to what was used in the X-Files theme. The only major segment of the composition which was an afterthought was the part where the pipe organ plays alone and then repeats through the guitar solo. I plan on using this in a video game project, unless someone else sees fit to use it for something else. I tried to convey the same type of feeling in the music as in parts of the CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT soundtrack, while making it just a bit more 'metallic'. While I was working on this I could easily imagine Alucard storming through his father's fortress to end his reign of terror. Therefore, I decided to call it "Vampire Slayer". Enjoy! It's one of my favorites. Most of it was mentally composed over a course of about three weeks before I decided to do anything with it. It was very unique in that aspect.
