Artists do get paid royalties on radio plays. So do the writers and musicians that record on he work, what they get varies on how the agreements are panned out. Obviously the composer singer/songwriter gets the major share, the rest trickles down from there. I believe it's all worked through the PRS and people like that

you know, i allways thought that there was some sort of payments being made to the record companys of any given artist that may be givin a spin on the air. but i also thought that the radio stations were to help the artist to get exposure through plays. the business of making, and selling music is deff. changing, if it's changing for the better, i guess we'll have to wait and see.
you know theres no telling how meney radio stations there are around the world. to monitor them all, so to collect royalties, god that would be a real pain in the butt!

I have a tough time with this one. When I see the salaries of some of the DJ's not to mention the rating bonuses that are paid out at stations, I feel the artists need to be paid. I actually thought they already were paid. I thought I remember hearing that an artist made 7 cents for each spin on a station. Guess not. With that in mind, artists need to be paid. If I went to a radio station and said here I want you to run this Ad for Mixposure 3 times an hour, they would want me to pay for airing it. It is a business and they need to make money. An artist needs to make money as well!

Agree with Dazed here. This is not going to happen and if it does "HURRAY TO MIX RADIO!", because FM stations will be out of business.
