Song Lyrics
some things don't matteri'll never catch the crooksi'll never find my books of workthey tooki'll never get a second look.some things do matteri wanna live...
some things don't matter i'll never catch the crooks i'll never find my books of work they took i'll never get a second look.
some things do matter i wanna live for free i want you here with me i want to see the things that matter.
and its been a while since i've been to the ocean. and its been so long since i've seen the sea... i'm going in! i'm going in! i'm going in! i'm going in!
some things do matter like when you're standing there and then i catch your stare its like we're everywhere at once.
and some things matter too much they spin around my head i'm floating in the water sharks swimming round my bed and some things matter too much so now i've gotta swim i'm going in! i'm going in! i'm going in! i'm going in!
some things do matter i wanna brave the storm i wanna be reborn i wanna see you in the morning

"Some Things" is about taking the plunge! Doing the things that you care about, and not worrying about all the unknowns. I wrote it when I was dating this girl for a very brief time...I thought it was going to be about her, but it ended up covering many topics...Now when I go back and listen to it it sounds like a song about addiction, and trying to break free.

This is my second review for this song. The first one went with the version posted under Will's name. Just want to say this is a very good song and has been on my playlist for quite some time now. Thanks for sharing and am looking forward to hear more new stuff from you. Cheers / Mike

Future Self was created this year by Will Mitchell as an attempt to solidify his and his friends' presence in the Atlanta music scene. Through the work of him and his close collaborator, Joe Koubek, they were able to record some very interesting and wonderful tunes driven by mocked-up drum beats they created on the computer. Once these were done the tracks were sent to Jeff Thal in Tampa, FL to have drums put on. Through the magic of recording and the internet and some clever editing the three musical voices were put together in one musical souffle and that's the current sound of Future Self on their record Debt to a Muse. When the songs were being recorded the rough cuts were delivered to Ali Bats, an artist in the Atlanta area, who created a different visual piece for every song on the record (and also the cover image). So the image you see paired with each song was actually created from the song itself (the mood, the lyric, etc.). Currently the band is regrouping to prepare to play lots and lots of live shows in and around the Atlanta, GA area. The EP goes on sale in late July on both CD and vinyl, and copies can be bought at various stores and online at that time. The EP will also be available for free download on both Mixposure (now!) and on Future Self's website when it goes live in July 2009.
