Song Lyrics
I went looking for redemption
and I found a one night stand
But I didn’t have it in me
So I joined a traveling band
Now the people on the roadside
Stomp...
I went looking for redemption
and I found a one night stand
But I didn’t have it in me
So I joined a traveling band
Now the people on the roadside
Stomp their feet and clap their hands
While their children die behind them
Playing war in arid lands
Chorus:
We watch them count their money
They look us in the eye
And say
“You loseâ€
They all go to heaven
While were stuck here
With the 21st Century blues
Some work toward Armegedon
While they nod their heads in time
Buy their trinkets at the gift shop
Then home to eat by five
If we do what they’re saying
Its like National suicide
Invoke Jesus from the heartland
On a genocidal ride
When the ice caps all are melted
And the high ground is out of reach
I’ll light a stick of incense
In the ruins on the beach
I’ll wonder if it could have been different
If our leaders had not been mad
And wasted what we gave them
Let them kill the best we had

There are people who believe they are somehow working gods agenda to bring about some kind of judgment day. They use their money to keep them and their families insulated from the worst consequences of their actions. The rest of us are screwed.

This song is more true than ever. Thanks for having the guts to say out loud what so many of us feel in our hearts and heads. This is a worthy piece for the ages!

Wonderful song, Henry. Love the lyrics, great acoustic work, and such an enjoyable voice.

Like that signature southern guitar start, I always think of Marshal Tucker Band, who I've seen. This all you of course; with solid great vocals; good harmonies, really fine lyrics, a good message. Like the guitar complimenting with a cool progression. nifty to see the lyrics. This has a good arrangement and the sound level is right there; neat through my headsets...always use good ones. EXCELLENT production Henry. Most original tune.
Like it alot. -Vesa.

Timely, heartfelt piece with that same great simple production that Rick Rubin used with J. Cash. I really get that live, in your face performance vibe here and I love how the harmony comes in on "you lose". Vocals grab and don't let go. Acoustic sounds nice (modal tuning?) so really tops all the way around.

wow Henry....sorry I missed you all this time. Your brand of acoustic and voice here is just dynamite. Wonderfully written, both music and words, this song sticks out as a real statement in several ways.
Musically, your great playing and acoustic sound mate so well with the strong and confident vocals. Vocal line well conceived and your voice qualities are really top notch. The statement is confidence.
Lyrically, you are a poet...this is just fine stuff. Not only do I agree with your outlook but this is superb and uncontrived wording. The statement is clear and the sentiment unwasted on your listeners.
Wonderful and all ways Henry...LOVE IT! Thanks for the DL! ~Blake

Captivating performance. Great power in the message of this song. Passionate performance both vocally and instrumentally gets this powerful message across perfectly. Love the lyrics....beautifully crafted with a real hook in that chorus section. Sensational voice. Great piece of work.
Cheers

A most solid and expressive performance! Your songwriting skills shine through in this fine tune in the finger-pointing tradition. It all works here, the crisp guitar, the sharp vocals, and the even sharper lyrics. You've created a keeper, for sure.

Hi Henry Harrington! This a great song man. You have that acoustic sounding so full, crisp, and powerful that all I can say is "it's perfect". In fact the whole song is powerful from the vocal quality, lyric content, to production. It's hard to pull off this kind of sound with just a dude and his guitar but you've done it. Bravo!
This takes me back to Stephen Stills' solo days.

You sound a lot like Harry Chapin. Don't worry, I liked Chapin's voice!
I'm enjoying this piece Harry. It displays your passion quite well.
Imagine, only in this absurd world of the Independent scene of music would a composer like myself who deals with serialism checks out a composer like yourself whose passion is acoustic guitar and vocals...
The absurdity of it all Henry...
I truly enjoyed your work Mr. Harrington!

Beautiful acoustic piece.
Thing is witha song like this where you have guitar and voice, you get nowhere to hide, you have got to get it all on the money.
The acoustic has a beautiful tone to,but the star is your vocals and lyrics.
If we were live,I would give you a standing ovation,as is,I will simply say excellent and a smiley
GREATLY enjoyed, and welcome once again mate.
