Hollister Morgan is an Americana and American Roots artist who has worked with Earl Thomas Conley, Max D. Barnes, Max Troy Barnes, Ruthie Barnes-Steele, Vern Gosdin, Dan McCorrison, Bobby Bare, George Jones, and Joe Sun. His writing ranges from straight ahead Folk to Country Rock, and a bit of Journey thrown in for salt and pepper. “For me it is about the moment and emotion”, says Morgan. “The genre and decade are dictated by the muse. It depends on my age and where I was when I write a story. My tastes and memories are all over the map. When it finds me, I can’t limit it to some pigeonhole. It is what it is and comes from where it does.”
“I was raised pretty much a gypsy because of my father’s work. That didn’t change when I got on my own. Aside from moving around and having lots of different day jobs I spent a good deal of windshield time driving semi around the country. Consequently many of my songs deal with the road one way or the other. My passions are music, cars, women, love and just plain livin’. You have to write what you know and have experienced. I mean, I love growing things in my yard and garden, but it would be pretty hard to write a good song about a potato”.
