The "wall" I can't 'find the strength to rise above' is a metaphor for all the obstacles, real or imagined, that stand between us. The 'shadows that we cast upon' it are the dreams or imaginings of 'how it could have been', 'if only', 'another time, another place'.

The 'tears' are the regrets for not reciprocating the love and having to live with the subsequent loneliness .
