On a day, just like any...In a town, no place special

They wander among us with the troubles of life.

But something down deep in their soul is so different,

when one in a thousand would help stop a flight

How do you know you'll be touched by a hero

How can you know when they’ll give up their lives

They're walking through subways, in the airports and on taxies.

and back in their homes they have children and wives.

Three that we know of and maybe some others

stood firm on that day when fate brought them to bare.

on a blue autumn morning, in the sunny clear air

We’re told of a people and the things they were doin

of souls filled with hatred among them this day

Of a miss-guided concert and a plan bent on ruin

an of loved ones who had warned them of the harm in their way

Thanks to these men there are children with parents

and thanks to these three there are men who still lead

and thanks to these men there was no time on target

in a land borne in freedom they’d never concede

This was written the evening of 9/11. I was living in New England at the time and many of the people there were directly affected by the attack and lost loved ones.

This literally wrote it's self from the late night news.
