Welcome to my Blog.
My name is Anomaly Jonez &
I am a Internet Recording Artist.

The main theme of this blog will be entitled : Homemade - The Making of a Internet Recording Artist. I will use this blog to chronicle the steps it takes me to become a successful recording musician on the Internet.

Now once upon a time my life was simple, before I embarked on becoming an IRA professionally, I was just a moody singer, that needed an outlet. I went to Guitar Center, I purchased a condenser mic, a fire box, which included the Cubase software, headphones and monitor speakers and I started making my own music.

About two years ago, one night I found a site entitled : Looperman.com, which offers free loops, music and acapellas' for download by artist from all over the world. Most of whom are based outside of the United States. I was totally smitten, the site is great, the music was raw and intense and homemade, perfect for me.

I've always considered myself sort of a street corner performer. I have no problem with that, I've searched for my niche in the "music business" . But the thought of standing in a massive crowd of people, fanatically yelling and vibing, I would rather run...

Then you have the paparazzi, following you to 7/11 to get your morning coffee. Taking pictures of the fat side of your back just to paste on a magazine to prove to the world that you have cellulite! Are you serious??? NO!

But then you have the Internet, this massive powerful tool, that allows me to connect with listeners on a deeper level and drag them down deep into my darkness. Or let them soar on my wings at the height of my emotional outburst.

Back to the street corner performer. This guy, he is my hero, he is a working musician.
Let's just break it down for analysis purposes. Your down at Venice Beach, I live in LA, your hanging out, stumble across this musician. This guy is awesome, you say 'you've got, your a star'. He has a crowd around him, everybody is feeling this music, tip jar is there.

After the set you say, that was a great song, I love it. You find out he is a cool, regular Joe, now your really digging this guy, your digging his music. A couple of weeks later you have some friends, you say let's go hang out at the beach, I know this guy down there, I hope he's down there still. You get down there, see your already a 'fan' of his music, now you've brought friends.

But guess what, regular Joe performer gets a little smart, decides to record a CD. He reasons I've got the software at home, a condenser mic, I'll plug in a couple of amps, get a good sound. He has some contacts on line, he can use to mix up the CD. So he creates a CD, he puts a picture of himself on there, 'artwork'. (and of course he copyrights his music). He now decides to 'release' his CD to the public. You get down there, your going to buy that CD, you came down there for him. You want to support him and you brought other supports of his music.

So again I say to you, I love the street corner performer. He is a working musician, he is my hero. So using that scenario, I am a street corner performer. However my street corner is virtual, it exists in zero's and ones. I can go from zero to a million over night. Instead of having to look for me on some street corner, you can sit in your own home and bring me right to your Internet. You don't have to drag your friends down there and search for me and hope I'm there. Just send them a link. By the tens', by the hundreds, make it an email chain. Give me a thousand of your closest friends. Facebook me, twitter me, whatever you need to do to find me. Because if I can supply that demand, and yes there is a demand. There's a demand for good music. Aren't you tried of being force-fed plastic music? Being told what's hot what's not? Don't you want to decide for yourself?

The Internet is the per vehicle because I am a Internet Recording Artist. I'm a moody singer, I'm corny when I want to be, I have a lot of talents and I love to sing. And if that's what I can do, if I can find away to do what I love in a medium that I am comfortable with. That's success. Once again my name is Anomaly Jonez and I am an Internet Recording Artist.

And so we begin. Up next : "And Then There Was Confusion". My next steps are to get a plan together to make this work. Will be posting that plan soon.

Check out my blogspot at : http://sireninthedarkness.blogspot.com/

You're bright enough that some of us have to put on shades when we encounter your presence. What a glorious presence.

A new word for your vocabulary (I'm hoping to get it into the American English dictionary soon as it's in British English) - Busker.

A busker is a street musician. You can turn it into a verb too, as in "I'm off to do some busking."

I think this is the word that could make street performance honorable again, instead of so many thinking it's pan-handling with a gimmick.

Great video blog!
