Something's Gotta Give - R. Johnson/M. PineoDo you recognize me anymoreChange stares at us bothConforming identitiesForever fearing bored causeAll she talks...
Do you recognize me anymore Change stares at us both Conforming identities Forever fearing bored cause
All she talks about and All he talks about Is what they talk about When they're both away It's so cliche
Something's gotta give Shame lies in secrets that Holler for escape
Space between silence is defening Greener grass awaits Raising a tragedy Amidst a daily hate That awakens
All she talks about All he talks about Is what they talk about When they're both away It's so cliche
It's bringing me down It's bringing me down It's bringing me down You're bringing me down I used to like to stay up late I used to like to be awake But you've sucked it all away And here we are so cliche
Something's gotta give Nothing here is forever I just want escape Something's gotta give Don't wanna be forever trapped this way
All she talks about is What he talks about All he talks about is What she talks about All she talks about is What he talks about All he talks about is What she talks about All she talks about is What he talks about All he talks about is What she talks about All she talks about is What he talks about All he talks about is What she talks about Something's gotta give Nothing is forever Something's gotta give Nothing is forever Something's gotta give

Music with Mark: Something's Gotta Give started out as an instrumental demo I've been kicking around since the Summer of 2002. It was first called "In Love" and as usual (with me) the title had little to do with the music. I revisited the song in 2005, to tighten it up a bit. At that point i was embarrassed by the title so it got changed to "Give it Up". That 2005 version also had a fun solo in it. Skip ahead to the fall of 2010 and I was digging through my pile of demos looking for something to update when I found "Give it Up". I hastily slapped a new version together (I ran out of time to record the solo) and sent it off. I think Rock wrote lyrics in less than 12 hours and had his version sitting in my inbox the next day. I like this song for it's simplistic, effective chorus chords and the chord voicings that i chose for the intro and middle eight. Looking at the sum of its parts, it's quite a nice little tune.
Chatter with Rock: I wrote the prechours & chours melody almost instantly as I do with most of Mark's music, as it lends it self so well to melodic writing. The verses we're initally very different, but I didn't like the flow at all. So I took a break for about an hour and came back with the idea to just improvise a verse while recording the other parts and found the flow I was looking for! Lyrically it's about the overwhelming amount of unhappy relationships people thrust themselves into in which they spend half the time doing everything but what THEY want to do. Eventually losing their sense of self and what makes them truly happy. You live once, do it with a smile or what's the point? I was looking for a way to describe it in a couple words then I got an invite to check out a friends new band "The Daily Hate"... Bam there it was right in front of me, second verse complete

I agree with Farrell, definitely a heavy pop/rock feel to it. Catchy tune!
Kudos,

No reviews yet? That's a shame...this is a well constructed song that is performed with excellence. A sort of heavy pop rock with a memorable chorus. Nice work Low Cut Monday!

Inspired by bands ranging from U2, Matchbox Twenty, Richie Kotzen, Zakk Wylde, Sense Field, Pantera, Rage Against The Machine & Glasjaw, Low Cut Monday have forged their sound without limitations to fit a specific mould. The freedom with which the album was written is what gives the songs their magic.

Low Cut Monday have released their debut album "Everybody Knows Somebody Who's A Nobody"on Friday September 17! Members Rock Johnson & Mark Pineo began the album initially as a side project, but soon realized they had something very special brewing. The album consists of 11 tracks that blend melodic rock & pop hooks with gritty emotional vocals. The lead single, "Something's Gotta Give" has already received airplay and is one of many single worthy songs on the record.
