at least we'd never change

runnin' like them wild horses

free out on the range

but all things never stay the same

both over and under the sun

now you don't get to where you want

as quick as you would have done

the different isn't all that much so you don't put up a stink

it's not enough to change your mind but it's enough to make you think

you wonder 'bout the future, just where you'll get your thrill

you wonder how much faster it is going down the hill

you take a peak on down the road and it cuts you like a knife

but it's something that we all go through

it's just a fact of life

you wonder what it's all about and if you ever will understand

if you got rock solid proof for me i sure would like a hand

you think a little longer before you take another drink

it doesn't seem so cool anymore to find your head down in the sink

and all those things that you used to do without a sense of fear

ther's a few that you wouldn't do right now

that's probably why you're here

and all those dreams that you used to have that got left up in the air

if you had the chance to do them now, tell me would you even dare

so you are here in your 40th year, you wonder what's the rush

you've blown as many chances as the hairs left in your brush

and when the bells of life for you have left a common ring

there's only one thing left to do

that's to play guitar and sing

it's as good as any reason to explain the things i do

take a second romp through childhood is all i want to do
