Minerva

Minerva came about during the summer of 2006. Band members include Jessica Schollaardt, Leela Aheer and Lauren Ireland. Together these three wrote with fervor infusing their music with complex melodic sections. Before they knew it, they found themselves captivating audiences from all over.

They have played over 100 performances in their young history.

Minerva’s debut CD was released in November, 2011. The title of this CD is “Follow Me” – and that’s what fans did with a feverish abandon, wanting to temporarily experience the joy of Minerva’s delightful music.

Three songs are being highlighted at this time; “Jeune”, “Twilight” and “Wintersong”.

“Jeune” was written in dedication to a little girl who passed away tragically at the age of 6. Writing this song was therapeutic and the hope and goal was to bring happiness to all who get the privilege to listen to it and finding joy in the little things in life.

“Twilight” was written to honor the story for which it was written - the composer’s deeper understanding of the story and her perception of an ongoing longing to be with the one you love. The violin and piano signify confusion and uncertainty. The conversation that takes place is beautiful with glorious harmonies with an eloquent rhythm. It was beautifully arranged and has an amazing impact on audiences worldwide.

“Wintersong” is a Gaelic inspired composition divulging the magnificence of a winter’s day. It is the uncertainty of the future, venturing out and finally letting go; a pure surrender to the glorious magical moment that you may not expect. This song is a poetic stream of wonder and encapsulates the aura of this trio’s sound and style. It has wonderful harmonies which give the sensation of skipping through a meadow free as a bird.

These singles are as diverse as the rest of the compositions on this CD. You look for many common threads that run through these songs which include glorious harmonies. Every song was written with such an emotional and connected role. Experiences whether love, pain, loss or happiness is hard driven in each song, packed with a purpose and a message for all to hear once you surrender to the beauty of these songs.

Minerva has had multiple sold out performances and it’s very easy to know why. They have the power to create joy which heals the human soul.

Minerva has three concerts in the works. They are also planning a folk fest tour through the interior portion of British Columbia either this summer or next.

“Our band is named after and in honor of the Roman/Greek Goddess Minerva (Athena). She embodies wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, just warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts and skill.”

You can listen to and/or purchase their music by logging onto the following websites:

www.soundsofminerva.ca

www.promofm.com (Search: Minerva)

Minerva is currently working with A & R Select based in Beverly Hills, Ca. for licensing, publishing, a record deal and/or placement opportunities.
