Just another day with the same disguise
You notice it when you walk through the door
You could just see it fester in their eyes, all the dirty lies
If you can get them lookin' up ,lookin' up from the floor
Because then they'd have to explain while you despise
Those empty praise and promises that you'd finally hope for.
Take off the mask, we really want to see
The eyes of deception
Is that you lyin', lyin' to me
At the end of the day,
When we walk through those doors
The game is all theirs
Not ours, we don't play
Nothin' ever changes, that's for sure
Just the days, months and all those years
They just keep talkin' , you and them just endure
While you laugh away, nothing is as it appears
Just another day, you won't buy into that crap
Take the mask off we won't fall into the trap.
Take off the mask, we really want to see
The eyes of deception
Is that you lyin', lyin' to me
At the end of the day,
When we walk through those doors
The game is all theirs
Not ours, we don't play
Can't see your eyes
Can't feel your grip
Take off the mask, we really want to see
The eyes of deception
Is that you lyin', lyin' to me
At the end of the day,
When we walk through those doors
The game is all theirs
Not ours, we don't play

This is another version of the track that is featured live on this site called Mask (lLve Version). Matter of Back the Texas Backstreet Version is the original song which was recorded a coyuple of years back and is the first blues collaboration for Texas Jake Lee and myself. A little remastering and i decided to post it.

I was kind of thinking this (well, the music) reminded of the old Screaming Jay Hawkins' "I Put A Spell On You" tune. I love the haunting, voodoo feel on this. Nicely done, amigos. Super keys, super geeter. Super blues song.

Hey Doc, great to hear you and Jake together again. Agree with FP that there's a really dark feel to this. Nice playing throughout but the mix sounds really muddy to me. The vocals are way back and even when the keys and Jake's slide come to the fore they still seem way back. It comes out more to the fore in Jake's solo which sounds really eerie (in a good way). Nice sounding track but I'd like to hear it in a better mix.

Dark vocal tone and interesting dissonance as the guitar slides against the keys - not your ordenary blue.

His music is blues based and streches out far to utililize many genres but never srtays too far from his blues background. Most of his music is of an angry nature either protesting values of government, people, and even himself. It is a unique sound. His only CD out is entitled "Just For The Love Of It". In the process of remastering his songs, Doc's songs that are up now are a work in progress until all mixing is concluded. this may take some time.</font></p><p><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3" color="#000080">Thanks for listening,</font></p><p><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3" color="#800000">"CHARLEY TOWN PRODUCTIONS"</font></p>
