Microcephaly is a bizarre heavy rock song with two distinct parts; the verses are radically heavy almost like Primus meets Zeppelin; and the chorus parts are more like Radiohead meets Alice In Chains as I bring in two tracks of acoustic guitars to sweeten it out more; there is a bridge that I wrote in the spirit of a Michael Stipe-R.E.M. break and Alan is playing some bongo-ish things that I don't know exactly what they are called but they sound cool for the bridge. Dan is playing a selective-counter-punch bass line at the threshold of audibility that sews all parts together. There is a 'guitar solo' but it's pretty out-there like a Fellini film of a carnival gone wrong and idiots laughing ( samples of 7 different people laughing ) themselves into hysterics. Vocally I am using Middle-Eastern scalic climbs in the verses that i am tripling by singing one track through a megaphone. The vocals in chorus is simple double-lead vocal placing the 5th below the root note. This song is like the month of March...in like a lion and out like a lamb. If you compare and contrast the intro and outro you will see exactly what we mean.
<p>MRI was born when Noir, an alternative hard rock band from West Palm Beach, was asked to change their name by Roadrunner Records in 2003, having signed a Noir ( death metal band ) from Orlando.</p> <div>MRI writes, records and produces all their own material. There are echoes of Alice In Chains and The Smashing Pumpkins in their musical influences, however shades of Led Zeppelin, Jane's Addiction, The Police, Rush, U2 and Pink Floyd will be evident in the songs to even the casual listener.</div> <div>In 2008, MRI was scouted in Germany by Daniela Petri [ http://www.myspace.com/danipetri ] and in 2009 MRI will be working with Eric Greedy, well known for his production and engineering on several Hurt CDs. Eric will be mixing and mastering a bunch of singles that are on '<span style="font-style: italic;">Where Parallel Lines Meet',</span> MRI's debut double CD.
