The thick background pad at the first half is a great sound. The vocal harmonies give it a wonderful unified feel to it and keep it from sounding too unhappy or at least make one feel they are not...

I wish this was kicked up a bit (maybe something in the mastering is all it needs). Still, there is nothing wrong with this song at all. I love it -- nice use of percussion and congas. That violin is wonderful. Nice use of backup vocals, and that rhythm guitar is perfect. Just punch it up a tad.
A very interesting song John. Memorable chorus, nice solo and fill-ins (violin/synthesizer). The overall mood fits the mysterious background on which your song was written. Great job.
