This song was written to lament the decline of the cottage industry, the loss of our ability to support ourselves by working for ourselves instead of for others. This song is part of a set I've written about the Luddites - an uprising in Northern England in the early 1800s fighting the introduction of technology and the move to mass production.
Feeling pretty low at the mo - see my RSS feed for details - so any nice words greatly appreciated.

This is really nice. From the first notes, It reminded me of my recent trip to Ireland. Great lyrics and musicianship.

I have enjoyed all of this material - always creating a richly evocative atmosphere, I will keep listening and reviewing. ftlpope
