<span class="epktxt">Nicky Swann is a singer/songwriter who has been a regular performer on the UK&nbsp; acoustic circuit since April 2007. Nicky was born in South Devon in October 1972 and has been based in the area ever since.<br />Her contemporary acoustic roots sound draws on elements of folk, country<br />and blues. Her influences include Carole King, Patsy Cline, Damien Rice,<br />Lucinda Williams and Etta James<br /><br />After splitting in 2006 with her long term covers duo guitarist&nbsp; she searched for a replacement, only to be disappointed by those she auditioned.<br />So determined to continue was she, she decided to take the role<br />of guitarist herself and quickly expanded her three chord repertoire and was gigging<br />again after six months.<br />She started to write new material and relaunched herself as a singer/songwriter.<br />She has achieved a growing, well respected&nbsp; reputation in such a short space of time,<br />singing from the heart and captivating audiences with her emotionally honest delivery.<br /><br />Nicky's achievements so far include, winning Artsbase 2008 singer/songwriter award,<br />performing for BBC Radio Devon accompanied by folk singer and fiddle player<br />Jackie Oates.
