We tried it your way, toting guns and slinging hate

Prey on the weak and call it strength

Leaves you filling empty after every meal

Creates a hole that's never never filled

So we try to pray, reciting scripture to ease the pain

Pointing fingers and assigning blame

Eye for an eye is how it begins

A vicious cycle that never never ends
