Thanks again, BillyD. Do you remember David Crosby (of CSN fame)? He started an unrecognized genre that I saw carried on by Joni Mitchell and others. I suppose I'd call it "Folk Jazz." Between the harmonies and the acoustic/jazz influenced sound, this is at the very root of much of my music. There are so many influences off of Joni Mitchell's work in the era of For the Roses and Hissing of Summer Lawns where Tom Scott was doing a lot of sax in the background. Very tasty. Then there were influences from Steely Dan, which I'm sure you hear as well. In an upcoming recording I hope to have Steely Dan bassist Chuck Rainey join me for a tune or two. At least we've been talking about it (great guy, by the way).

There are some great qualities about this song from the break. It fuses some great styles together. I hear jazz, blues, country...almost even a soft rock contemporary feel also. I think that is really great to hear when one can bring all of that together and create something unique and enjoyable as this is. Everyone sounds really good playing as well...great musicianship. This is a great listen...well done!

I like the arrangement the vibe and the melody very much.
I came here after seeing a clip of you sharing your thoughts on Simon C and American Idol.
Anyway very well played, composed and produced. Pro sounding stuff.
Peace

A few things grab me on this tune. Bass player shines on this tune. There are just some great runs. Guitar work is exceptional. Loved the solo. I was also liking the sax. Solid lyrics and hook.
First, let me invite you to view my nightly v-log about making it in music without record companies, managers and middle-men (women, too). Here's the link: v-logs
I'm a "veteran"--performing and writing since 1971. I was published by Columbia/Screen Gems, Sunbury/Dunbar (RCA), and Interworld Music (Jimi Hendrix was in the catalog, too). Former member of Nic Danjer, Primadonna, Promise, and currently part of Foundation. My recent releases include "Also Known As" and "Rock the Big House Down." In 2009 I was nominated for Texas State Musician. Willie Nelson won, but at least he can say he beat out Ryan Michael Galloway
I've done a ton of mentoring, authoring, speaking, producing and promoting over the years--mostly on a regional basis. My books include The Band Promotion Turbo-Charger, Gigster Textbook, and Hits and Heartbreakers. I've founded www.GigsterClinics.com , www.WeDontNeedNoStinkingRecordCompany.com , and co-founded the Collin County Songwriters Association (now the immediate past chairman).
The mix of music is all over the place, the challenge of being a songwriter who is fascinated by so many genres. But the record companies are really the only ones that care that much about categorization, and frankly We Don't Need No Stinking Record Company!
