Starla’s destiny has always been to create songs---her parents couldn’t afford to give her piano lessons but fortunately her grandmother owned a piano—when she was just 8 years old, all the other kids would be playing outside and Starla would be inside figuring out songs on her grandmother’s piano.
Now an accomplished songwriter, Starla has quite a large roster of original songs that she wrote, arranged and had recorded.
One can find quite a diverse menu of genres, tempos and rhythms in her music---her songs include hard rocking, alternative, psychedelic, jazzy, new age, bluesy and even Latin—the lyrics are always passionate and often reflect on issues such as injustice, poverty, abuse, betrayal, depression and suicide—words that shout out---but she also writes about positive feelings like believing in the magic that’s you, finding your dreams, finding comfort and true love.
Starla is proud to be one of the very few Native American AND female songwriters in this country---she’s performed at many a coffee house venue and has even performed on the famous Venice boardwalk---she gives a piece of her heart with every performance.
