A brief History of Abaddyon

- “I´ve created The Abaddyon Project in the year 2002. It all really began as a regular metal band, but some notions started to flow in my mind as time went by.

First of all, I´m from Mar del Plata, Argentina (South America), a very unussual place to make this kind of music, which is a combination of metal, classical music, progressive rock, folklore, ballads, and all this in a foreign language to me: in English!.

So, as you can imagine... is not that easy to spread this art in here.

The name ABADDYON is a name made with the mix of the Apocalypse Angel´s name as it appears in the Bible, but with no religious intention: 

...”A king, the Angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in hebrew is Abaddon and in greek Apollyon, in Latin Exterminans” (Apocalypse 9:11)

To me, the Angel is like a witness of all times, an avenger and also an adviser for mankind.

Just a metaphore, of course.

Well, We´ve played that year in several stages, promoting our band and collecting fans. And in 2003 we´ve recorded our “Under the dreams of eternity ” EP, an innocent self-production that shows the group potential at that moment. Our popularity has grown in the web too, thanks to our well-designed official site www.abaddyon.com , since october 2003.

After some replacements in the line-ups, I took the full control and I moved the name to THE ABADDYON PROJECT.

In 2005 we´ve released "The Lion´s Gate" EP   for on-line promotion only, with Guillermo Josef on vocals, a few guests and me playing all the rest.

Then, I´ve started the writing of an historical fiction novel called "From the days of foundation - History of Arghlan" and his corresponding music. Actually, I have the whole music for the first two albums.

During 2005-06, I´ve found some fine persons and musicians to include into this dream.

And since that moment we´ve been releasing a single every 6 months, for on-line distribution, which is the best way for us to promote our art at a low cost.

Also, we have official sites of our band in different communities all over the web, such as My Space, ReverbNation, Hi5, Facebook, We7, etc. to collect new fans worldwide.

In 2007 we released our power ballad NEVERMORE which is a strong political content song that shows a new level of commitment with reality for the group. This song was included in the MELODIC METAL WORLWIDE compilation as a track number 14, with other promises of international metal, by the dutch label Shaded Moon entertainment.
