words and music by Wayne the Humps
Well one day Me and Bobby and Timmy were fishing down by the river
We saw something that just didn’t look right
When we got closer we noticed it was a body floating in the river
So we did what anybody else would do, we called the cops
And they showed up and they saw what we saw
Dead in the river, there’s a body floating there
He is dead in the river
Who he is, someone cares
They dragged him to shore to find out who he was
He had no wallet no ID because he had no clothes
He was a bare naked man
The cops said “Can’t do much here, hope you understand”
So they loaded him up and took him away to the morgue
And made him even colder than he was before
Well it’s not that he minded but he was high and dry
And it’s so much better than being by quayside
Dead in the river, there’s a body floating there
He is dead in the river
Who he is, someone cares
I heard they ran some DNA tests
The family was notified by a text
I don’t know what they did with the body next
And till this day I’m still perplexed
There was a body dead in the river
There was a body dead in the river, dead in the river
He was bloody dead
